I understand that with a very good telescope, you can see evidence of each of the six landing sites.

He is trying to win the Nobel Prize for his street-theater performance of what a fake physicist might do if he were trying to convince the world he is actually smart.

I don’t think he ever did much science past his PhD. He very quickly (5 years or so) became Hayden Planetarium director. More an “educator manager” job the scientific research job. Then like Sagan did earlier became a “science celebrity”.
