A wanted driver thought he could get away from police on a busy Georgia roadway.
But officers deployed one of the most effective tools being put in the hands of police: the Grappler.
Dashcam video shows Atlanta police firing a Grappler from the front of a patrol vehicle, ar tire in a heavy-duty tether and bringing it to a controlled stop before a chase could even begin.
Police say the driver was wanted for allegedly destroying multiple Flock cameras used by law enforcement to help solve local crimes and now faces property damage, interference with government property, and drug charges.

Another hero falls.
You done flocked up A-Aron
And that’s how you don’t get shot by the cops when they stop you.
From what’s on the video, I don’t see that the guy is fleeing from the cops. I don’t hear a siren, and he doesn’t appear to be speeding. The problem with giving police “toys” like this, is that they want to use them when not required or justified. Shooting our the tire of a vehicle moving at even the speed limit could cause a serious accident.
I saw a Youtube where a cop was chasing a fleeing suspect. He fired some sort of magnetic tracker device at the suspects car, and was able to break off the chase while they used the tracker to find and arrest the driver. Seemed a lot safer to the public than a high speed chase. And probably cheaper and easier to deploy than the system described here.
It’s a revenue generator, not a crime solving tool. And the government is and its tools are destroyed.
Put me on his jury please
I always wondered why some harpoon was not invented to slow these drivers down. Next step was forward mounted 50 cal machine guns to perforate them.
Someone knocked down and possibly stole a flock camera along my commute. One day it’s there. The next the pole is leaning and the device is completely missing. Oh. I’ve also read that anything placed in the right of way for roadways must meet specific DOT regulations and that these flock cameras that are set up on their own poles may not meet those requirements. Get the flock out of my city!
There was a Galagher (sp?) bit a while back. He was joking about arsehole drivers. His suggestion was every driver been issued 10 suction-cup lawn darts. When they spot a car driven by an arsehole (i.e., no, not just a Beemer!), they fling a dart onto the rear trunk. When a copper spots a car with ten darts he pulls them over and issues a ticket.
.
All the Flock cameras in these parts are mounted on traffic signs, like speed limit signs, etc.
Still, it’s hard to see them in some locations. Soon they will be integrated into signage and invisible.
Big Brother is watching. There is no escape.
They be on Spokeshaves parking place who is disabled.
“Death Race 2000”
Gosh, remember when they told us we were in Vietnam to stop this sort of thing?
It was so '60s.
“interference with government property”
They are owned by Flock who sells information to the police without a warrant.
Speaking of Flock cameras, on the massive number of them in that alleged bastion of freedom, Florida...

If the info at the above is accurate, holy bleep.
“flock” camera’s deserved to be destroyed. Unwarranted surveillance.
Kudos to the guy who destroyed those evil warrantless violations of the 4th amendment.
