Summary The IRGC Aerospace Force said it would deliver a “heavy response” in the coming moments to what it called the enemy’s hostile actions.
US CENTCOM said on Tuesday its forces began carrying out “self-defense strikes” against Iran at President Trump’s direction, calling the operation a proportional response to the downing of a US Apache helicopter. The statement came after local residents in Sirik port city in southern Iran reported hearing several explosions.
Iran's foreign minister said on Tuesday the Islamic Republic's Armed Forces "are on constant alert for any violation of Iran’s airspace, land or waters,” after Iran shot down a US helicopter over the Strait of Hormuz.
US President Donald Trump said Iran shot down a US Apache helicopter while it was patrolling over the Strait of Hormuz, adding that the United States would respond to the attack.
A US Army Apache helicopter went down near the Strait of Hormuz on Monday and its two crew members were safely rescued, The New York Times reported, citing two people briefed on the incident.

US sees latest strikes as warning shot, expects talks to continue - CNN
The latest US strikes on Iranian targets were intended as a warning rather than a broader escalation, and Washington does not believe they will derail negotiations aimed at ending the conflict, a US official told CNN.
US Central Command described the operation as a "proportional response to unjustified Iranian aggression."
According to two sources cited by CNN, the initial strikes targeted military sites around the Strait of Hormuz. One source said additional strikes are expected.
The reported assessment suggests Washington is seeking to contain the confrontation even as it responds militarily to attacks on US forces.

I remember the line from the Untouchables when Sean Connery’s character said, “They put one of yours in the hospital. You put one of theirs in the morgue”. The proportional response is the one that gets their attention.

FR morphing into NEOCON CENTRAL with endless overseas wars was not in my playbook for 2026. Especially folks following, unquestioningly, like lemmings and abandoning their positions just like that. It’s rather amazing (sort of, I suppose)
I did not know that Baghdad Bob was still alive! 🙄
Yep, he’s retired in the UAE IIRC...........
Im no neocon, sorry. But Iran has had it coming for a long time.
So we retaliate for the Apache, then Iran fires ballistic missiles at 5th Fleet Headquarters and Muwaffaq Salti Air Base in Jordan. Do we retaliate to their retaliation to our retaliation?
