The Biden-Harris EPA subsequently awarded this group a $2 billion
federal tax dollars in April 2024 as part of the “Inflation Reduction Act.”

Power Forward Communities was formed in October 2023 as a coalition
of nonprofits, including Rewiring America, where Abrams served as senior counsel.

The group reported $100 in revenue in its 2023 filings, yet was
selected to receive a $2 billion grant in April 2024 to fund green energy home upgrades.

EPA Administrator Lee Zeldin requested an Inspector General probe into the matter, describing it as a “slush fund” for cronyism. Supporters of the grant argued that while the entity was new, the coalition partners (like Habitat for Humanity and Local Initiatives Support Corp) bring extensive experience.

Abrams-linked groups have faced scrutiny over their financial dealings in the past, including
a $300,000 penalty paid by the New Georgia Project regarding campaign finance law violations, as reported in early 2025.
