Trump-Endorsed Candidate Wins Republican Gubernatorial Primary [PA]

Pennsylvania Treasurer Stacy Garrity won the Republican primary for Governor of Pennsylvania.

Garrity, who secured Trump’s endorsement in January, will face incumbent Democrat Gov. Josh Shapiro in the general election.

“Both ran unopposed in Tuesday’s primary, but the general election carries massive stakes. Shapiro already ranks as a top-tier 2028 Democratic presidential contender, while Garrity brings Trump’s endorsement into a battleground state that could also decide control of the U.S. House,” Fox News stated.

Fox News shared further:

Garrity, who is backed by President Donald Trump, has been crisscrossing the state to raise her profile among voters and to boost running mate Jason Ritchey, who is facing a primary challenge for lieutenant governor.

Shapiro, who’s already a household name in the Keystone State, has also been on the campaign trail, helping congressional candidates he’s endorsed in competitive Democratic congressional primaries.

“I am honored to receive the endorsement of President Donald Trump. In 2016, President Trump did what no Republican nominee in 28 years was able to accomplish – win the Commonwealth of Pennsylvania. And in 2024, he repeated this feat by an even larger margin. Why? Because President Trump has been a voice for hardworking Americans, who have been too often left behind, by standing up to our international adversaries like China, lowering the tax burden on families and small businesses, and returning pride to our nation,” Garrity said in January after receiving Trump’s endorsement.

“Josh Shapiro has done everything he can to stand in President Trump’s way, suing his administration more than two dozen times. Josh Shapiro is President Trump’s number one adversary, and I am looking forward to working with President Trump and his team to defeat Josh Shapiro this November,” she added.

Newsweek has more:

Nearly 75 percent of Garrity’s supporters say they’re supporting her because she’s a Republican or because Trump endorsed her and she’s a supporter of the president’s, according to the Susquehanna poll.

Other surveys tell a similar story. A Quinnipiac University poll conducted earlier this year found Shapiro ahead 55 percent to 37 percent, while a Franklin & Marshall College survey put the race at 48 percent to 28 percent, with a larger pool of undecided voters. Aggregated polling averages show Shapiro maintaining a roughly 20-point advantage statewide, reinforcing the sense that Democrats currently hold a structural edge in the race.

Shapiro’s approval ratings remain relatively strong. Polling indicates that a majority of voters view his performance positively, with approval hovering in the mid-to-high 50s. That level of support is typically a strong starting point for incumbents.

He also has strong name recognition. Surveys consistently show that a majority of voters say they have not heard enough about Garrity to form an opinion. Analysts say that gap creates a timeline challenge for the Republican nominee, who must define herself statewide before voters lock in their impressions.

Lee told the Pittsburgh Tribune-Review that Garrity needs to fix her “identity problem” and show voters what she stands for because she doesn’t have the “luxury of taking her time introducing herself to the voting public.”

Woo hoo!

The endorsement was so impactful that she actually received 100% of the vote!

It’s possible that Garrity may fare a bit worse in November (only about 55% worse if she’s lucky, otherwise 60% worse).

For whatever reason, Joshie Shapiwo remains unaccountably popular among idiots here in PA.

"Garrity's supporters" does not equate to "everyone across America."

That's like claiming that AOC's supporters equate to everyone across America.
