Ken Paxton : The Republican establishment spent $150 million against me

AG KEN PAXTON (R): The Republican establishment spent $150 million against me, a Republican. That money could have gone to Georgia, North Carolina, Michigan, Maine, somewhere it actually helps us hold the majority.

Instead, it's being spent to protect an incumbent who's had 24 years in the Senate.

Let John Cornyn stand on his own!

Let Texas voters decide instead of Washington trying to influence it and mislead people about my record!

The National Republican Senatorial Committee (NRSC) headed by Cornyn's close friend RINO Tim Scott is spending heavily to save Cornyn. This money would be better spent on other Senate races.

Don't forget Virginia.

Cornyn is a stealth democRAT. Way past time to vote him out and give Paxton a chance.

If I were in Texas, I would vote for Paxton. Btw, I respond to their funding requests that I will no longer support their candidates as long as John Thune is Majority Leader. It doesn’t really help, but it makes me feel better.

The vote for Senate leader was anonymous. We can’t say for sure who voted for the current slug, Thune, holding that title. By his defense of Cornyn and all that money thrown his way we can be pretty sure Cornyn was one of the back-stabbers who voted for Thune. The people of Texas now have the chance to flush out a floater out of the bowl!

Wasn’t the leader a 3 way with Thunk, corny and rick Scott. Trump felt like Scott couldn’t win so he picked who he thought would win to try to score points with the projected leader. Trumps MO, guess it makes sense if he doesn’t pick the presumed establishment guy then they aren’t going to back him. They don’t anyway, but he has a better chance going with the presumed winner.

It would be fantastic to get Cornyn out. But I have real concern that moderate Paxton will go down the same path as Cornyn and turn into a Cornyn. What can be done to stop this? Why won’t Texas vote for a conservative?

Uninformed people in TX think an “R” is all that matters.

No. Voters don’t like being represented by you.

I remember when Cornyn and Thune ran for Senate. Both ran as conservatives, and made a good show of being conservative for the first term.

Newt Gingrich taught me never to contribute to any national Republican organization when he used my GOPAC money to defeat TEA Party candidates.

If Paxton were merely a "moderate", he would not have gotten so many Republicans trying to get him out of office. I'd like to think that the war wounds from his treatment in TX would toughen his hide.

We can't get everything we want overnight. When Reagan's campaign turned into a real contest after the Saturday, May 1, 1976 Texas blow out where he scored 100 out of 100 delegates, Texas still was largely run by official Democrats, and guys like John Connolly, Ron Paul, and Bushes were what we had to choose from.

People forget how bad the Republican Party had been, and it takes generations to weed and replant.

That’s the NRSC’s entire job. It’s a favor bank for Senate incumbents. Take difficult votes, and the NRSC will stand behind you against all comers, Democrat or Republican. When Paxton is senator, he’ll have the benefit of that aid. But not before then.

Your comment reminds me of how I vote. I consider Republicans moronic and cowardly. A few years ago, I realized the last Republican I voted for was Ronald Reagan. That is when I changed my registration to the Constitution Party, so at least my pollical officiation would match my oath of office as a Naval officer. I now mark ballets for Republicans only to vote against whatever degenerate creature the Democrats offer.

"...We can't get everything we want overnight...

Yet we get these loser infants who post on FR that all the Deep State scumbags weren't frog-marched to gas chambers on 1/21/2025.

Magical Thinkers who post on Free Republic.

And we see variants of them on a wide range of subjects every day.

As if Trump was totally exempt and didn't have to engage in political nonsense to get anything done, which he does.
