I know I’m supposed to be outraged by this, but every defendent has a right to representation. Its just how the system works.

Democrats are NOT (as the old conservative trope would have it) "soft on crime".

They are actively in favor of it.

Every criminal has a right to a vigorous defence. This is no different than the lawyers defending President Trump running for office.

Running unopposed in the Rat primary in a slightly upscale R+8 district in the Greenville suburbs.

The incumbent freshman Republican is a very rare thing in the wimpy SC legislature — he is a fairly decent conservative.

So naturally the Republican is facing a primary (but at least there won’t be a runoff), probably being challenged from the left though there is always the chance of a phony challenge from the right; whatever does damage will satisfy both the Democrats and the RINOs.

Sadly, R+8 is not safe in the current 2026 political climate so the racist murderer’s lawyer could actually win (and I don’t just mean his court case) in November. It remains to be seen how much the shyster-sleazebag will spend to buy the seat, or how much will be spent by Democrats on his behalf.

Indeed. Defending a defendant like this one would likely be distasteful to most, but it still needs to be done.

Plus the SC GOP primaries are turning into a MAGA versus GOPe bitch fight giving the Rats a better chance if the Republicans cannot unify. Ideological purity won't get you far if the cost is not winning elections.

Didn’t John Adams, our second President, defend the British soldiers who took part in the Boston Massacre?

This certainly has no business being allowed. If we are to have any kind of justice in this country, this kind of stuff must be stopped.

Well, there has to be reason when a criminal is being represented. There are too many escaping justice it seems to me.
