Former FBI Deputy Director and popular podcaster Dan Bongino went on Sean Hannity’s podcast, "Hang Out with Sean Hannity," in an episode that aired Tuesday, and he told us what many of us already knew: there really is a Deep State, and there are forces within our own institutions working against the very government they serve.
The FBI is split, he revealed:
"There were two FBIs trying to help you solve the A, B and C problems, and that's FBI one and FBI two," Bongino said in the episode released Tuesday.
He explained that half of the bureau consists of agents he felt "honored" to be in the room with, including those working in Violent Crimes Against Children (VCAC) and violent crime fugitive task forces. But on the other side of the FBI, Bongino had a different view.
"And then you had this other FBI," Bongino said, adding, "which was populated with, to say, unfortunately, ‘snakes’ is being nice."
Bongino left the FBI post after only 10 months because of the infighting as well as the personal toll. He said the gig was "tough on the family" and acknowledged that he did not enjoy the position. He left on good terms with Patel and Trump, who said, "Dan did a great job."
He and FBI Director Kash Patel didn’t know who to trust, the former NYPD officer and Secret Service agent said. They were dealing with snakes:
He said it was difficult for him and Patel to determine which agents fit each category, noting it was not "always obvious." He added they sometimes relied on outside sources to vet agents, but those efforts were not always accurate.
"You're trying to figure this out, and you're asking someone for advice, you've only been there a couple weeks, and you don't know if that person is part of the good FBI or the bad FBI," Bongino said.
How do you deal with agents trying to undermine the goals of the administration? You smoke out the vermin:
To root out these individuals, Bongino described a tactic he used to identify leakers. He made up an "innocuous" detail about his schedule in hopes it would be leaked. When it appeared in the media, he was able to confront the person with whom he shared it.
"It was like we would play this little game," Bongino said.
Although Bongino is no longer with the Bureau, he certainly has not been in hiding and has been scorching the Left for their unhinged rhetoric before and after the latest assassination attempt against President Trump:
To all those who tell you that the Deep State is a myth, have them listen to Bongino’s tale. Even within the ranks of our own FBI, we don’t know who’s with the administration, and who’s quietly stabbing them in the back. Kash Patel has his hands full, but so far, he’s shown that he’s up to the task.

Has Bongino ever explained why he left FBI? Not sarcasm. I haven’t listened to his pcast since he left govt so I don’t know if he’s explained but I am interested to know.
He says it was because of the infighting and the toll on his personal family life in Florida................

Again, not sarcasm, does that mean he gave up? I mean if the feds cannot secure the life of the family of an FBI deputy director, then where has the power gone?
It is difficult to tell who is trustworthy and who is not.
The only thing you have to rely on is your own gut instinct.
One way is to see who hangs around with who.
The old saying tell me who a man’s friends are and I’ll tell you what kind of man he is...............
I’m not sure, but I believe he took a rather large paycut to serve as Deputy FBI Director. His show on radio was probably 6 or 7 figures............
This is called a "Canary Trap" -- an age old counterintelligence method of identifying leakers and enemy spies. Sometimes the revealed leaker is rooted out, while other times he may be secretly exploited to unwittingly pass misinformation and disinformation to the other side.
On his podcast Dan explained that he informed Kash and President Trump that he would only complete the year. He never planned on a longer term.
It can be fixed; it would take a series of Presidents that are devoted to cleaning up the mess.
Trump in 4 years will not be able to completely fix the issues; it would take JD Vance of some other Republican winning in 2028 and remain in power 8 years followed by another President that continues to drain the swamp.
I think he just missed being with his wife, consistently, as he was used to doing. He mentioned the separation was ‘taking a toll on the marriage’. There are some couples who are bound in that way, where they don’t thrive when separated for a long time. My late parents were sort of that way. Married for 47 years.
The FBI has been compromised since the J. Edgar Hoover days. The only way it can be fixed is by completely destroying it and rebuilding it from scratch.

I think his job was done; you definately can change the culture in a government office in one year. Also, his wife got in a bad car accident and he wanted to be home more.
