I’m a consistently boring person.
Since my high school years, my politics, my principles, ideology and values have been the same.
I’m a traditional liberal, civil libertarian, and civil rights advocate. I support equality, meritocracy, freedom of speech, freedom of conscience, and intellectual diversity.
I have not changed.
But the world around me has changed dramatically, requiring me to switch from being a Democrat critical of the Democrats to becoming a Republican.
Even as recently as 10 years ago I couldn’t have imagine myself uttering the words “I am a Republican.”
But recent events have pushed me away from the Democratic party and toward what I regard as the lesser of two evils – the deeply flawed but far better Republican Party
I still support much of the Democratic platform, especially with regard to domestic and social issues, such as abortion, immigration, separation of church from state and fair taxation.
But I cannot abide the dramatic shift of the Democratic leadership and much of its base away from its support for Israel and other critical foreign policy issues.
So if I could put an asterisk next to my registration form for the Republican party, it would say “foreign policy Republican.”
But registration forms require selection of one party over the other.
After I announced I was leaving the Democratic Party in 2024, for a short time, I became an independent.
But I soon realized that it was something of a cop out.
Moreover as an independent I had no influence over either party.
As a registered Republican and contributing to its candidates, I hope to be able to exercise some influence over some of its policies with which I disagree.

David Mammet, Donald Trump, Elon Musk, Tulsi Gabbard, JD Vance (?), RFK Jr., etc. They all started somewhere.
I'd make him welcome. He's still pretty left wing, but he's also a thinking, fair-minded person, in my experience, even if he is frequently wrong, and even if, were I in legal trouble, he would be the last person I'd want representing me. But that's a collateral issue. So give him time. The red pill is slow acting. But it cures being a pain in the a@@ more often than not.
The Dems have not believed in these for a long time. meritocracy, freedom of speech, freedom of conscience, and intellectual diversity.
If he still believes in abortion, gun confiscation, trannies and homos, free immigration, and taxes as they exist, he is not a Republican, just another Trojan horse into our camp. While Israeli policy/support is important it is not in the top 5-10 of issues.
He chooses his party based on which one is the best for some foreign country. Nice for the prick to admit his loyalty is elsewhere besides America.
This from the Epstein buddy. But don’t worry, the clown said he kept his underwear on. No word on if he kept his socks on too lol.
“I still support much of the Democratic platform, especially with regard to domestic and social issues, such as abortion, immigration, separation of church from state and fair taxation.”
Yep. Not an ally.
That’s his starting point. I remember when Trump wanted to institute a one-time wealth tax to balance the budget. That was during the Clinton era. He’s over that. Dershowitz will get over his residual leftardism, too. Roseanne is making good progress, too.
And if it were based on a different foreign country? Get a grip. Keep your Spider-man underwear on.
How long since dims stood for that? If ever.
Mr. Dershowitz stood with Bill Clinton on impeachment as well as Donald J. Trump.
And a connecting dot between all three men is Jeffrey Epstein.
Not ready to lynch anyone but scrupulous with facts.
‘David Mammet, Donald Trump, Elon Musk, Tulsi Gabbard, JD Vance (?), RFK Jr., etc. They all started somewhere’
Along with Ronald Reagan.
Officially, ‘til 1967. Unofficially, not ever, since they supported slavery, the Klan and Jim Crow laws, even back then.
Also Strom Thurmond, formerly a segregation firebrand, after 1964, he changed for the better.
Short answer - he can tell which way the wind is blowing.
Then you'll be right at home as a registered Republican.
You can't, and don't.
Stay inside the Democrat camp and try to change it from within like John Fetterman.
Don't come to the Republicans and then try to turn it into Democrats. Either embrace the label or go back.
Don't go to McDonald's and then try to make it vegan. And don't join the Republican party and try to make it Democrat.

The democrat concept of "fair" taxation is a socialist one and, sadly, the majority of Americans today.
“So give him time.”
Not much time left. He’s 87 years old.
have no room for this jackass in my political tent.
Decades of rabid anti-American leftism and outright communism, two Trump impeachments, and four years of an abusive DOJ weren’t enough for him … but because he now sees that the Democratic Party is “anti-Israel,” he wants to be a Republican?
This loser should just slink away to Epstein’s island where he belongs.
Our Republic is not trouble because Democrats disagree with us about abortion, taxes, open borders or even sexual perversions.
Our Republic is in trouble because they steal elections, subvert the Constitution, corrupt our justice system and incite violence against those who oppose them. They lie, cheat and steal to stay in power rather than honestly represent the voters who elected them.
I have no problem at all with people who honestly disagree with me about policies and issues - as long as they will engage in free and fair debate - and I believe Dershowitz has proven time and again that he is so inclined.
1. He represented Trump in one of those impeachments.
2. In the past, you’ve said that America is an “agressive empire,” and that Iran is only developing nukes to protect itself from bullying from the likes of the US.
I’m surprised you weren’t zotted for that remark, but since you’re still here, if you live in a glass house, you shouldn’t throw stones.
“I have no room for this jackass in my political tent.”
It’s a big, big tent. The Republican Party and Conservative movement are not your “political tent,” which is probably loaded with girly magazines and a flashlight for late-night perusal. You don’t decide who goes and who stays.
