I am grateful to Pope Leo for saying this. While the media narrative constantly gins up conflict–and yes, real disagreements have happened and will happen–the reality is often much more complicated.

Pope Leo preaches the gospel, as he should, and that will inevitably mean he offers his opinions on the moral issues of the day. The President–and the entire administration–work to apply those moral principles in a messy world.

He will be in our prayers, and I hope that we'll be in his.

I respect NOTHING that man says. You can put a gun to my head and it won’t change a thing.

In regard to ongoing war, the pope is to have an advisory council then a declaration as to whether the action meet she criteria of just or non just war.

Any practicing Catholic can refer to this for how it affects their personal lives. If a troop is deployed, and they have verification that they are a practicing Catholic, this is pertinent to them, particularly if they have been notified of deployment and the war is declared un just

No one from the Pompeii to JD Vance has been professional enough to recognize this

There is no running around with a microphone blabbing personal uninformed opinions allowed. It degrades both positions.

A stage died between the pope andd the leader of the US

The pope, again, would be well advised to look up his catechism at least

So David Axelrod has Leo doing the passive-aggressive routine. And JD Vance is simping for him. Give me a break. Why say anything at all?

This Pope is a filthy leftwing puke. He bows down to Satan and cares NOTHING about the bride of Christ church (laity). Just like the previous communist homosexual Pope.

Frig’ Robert. One only has to look at his old X account that has been removed to know his complete and total disdain for POTUS Trump.

Robert says nothing about muslim violence yet preaches against ending evil.

As I mentioned earlier, Frig’ Robert.

The Pope is not privy to the intel to make an informed decision on what is a just and unjust war.

I’m with MeneMeneTekelUpharsin. I am not interested in anything that man says. He has allowed the Muslims to set up a prayer room in the pope’s Vatican library. How dare that man honor a false religion! https://freerepublic.com/focus/f-religion/4375287/posts
Our God is a jealous God (Exo. 20:5, 34:14, Deut. 4:24, 5:9, 6:15, Josh. 24:19, Neh. 1:2). There will be no other gods before Him (Exo. 20:3, Det. 5:7). God said in Judges 10:13, “But you have forsaken me and served other gods, so I will no longer save you.” That is not a good place to be. We can be respectful towards people who believe in false gods, but we cannot honor these false gods by allowing them in any part of our churches. Only God Almighty deserves honor, praise and glory. Only He is worthy of our praise and respect.

The Pope is not privy to the intel to make an informed decision on what is a just and unjust war.

The idea that the Pope should refrain on speaking about a war because he is not "privy to the intel" is absurd on its face.

He would be remiss to no small degree if he were to simply defer comment on a war and rely on the judgement of this or any other national leader leading a nation into conflict.

I didn’t say he should refrain on speaking out. He can spout off ill informed opinions about whatever he wants. Much like you do. Doesn’t mean anybody has to listen to some commie/homo who cares more about not offending Islamic trash than he does about defending his faith.

You are not correct.

And it is a Catholic declaration, or lack thereof. Not a pope of the world above the president of the US, as this has presented itself. It’s all out of order

Query to Google/AI:, does a pope have an advisory board in determining whether a war is just or unjust:

“Yes, a pope relies on several advisory bodies, diplomatic channels, and theological traditions when assessing the morality of a conflict and determining whether a war is just or unjust.”

He would consult bishops from the affected area, for one.

Then he would place an official determination with the Holy See

One purpose would be to advise practicing Catholics deployed to the theater which they would be able to present to the pentagon, with proof that they are practicing Catholics

This pope has done nothing of the kind. His opinions are not informed enough to be able to determine what is happening in Iran with regard to just and unjust, as people think he has done

There has been no studied or otherwise official documented opposition. Just a media spat with the president

“TLDR.”

So what?

It was a response to your ignorant comment. You don’t read much - by definition

He can spout off ill informed opinions about whatever he wants.

Pope John Paul II spent several months in the run-up to the 2003 Iraq War pleading with the Bush Administration to avoid attacking the country. (Nobody here wanted to hear what he had to say on that subject, either.)

The Bush Administration ignored him, launched the war, and 23 years later, the consensus is pretty much that the Iraq War was a really stupid thing to do; there are some 4500 Americans who gave up their lives in that war.

This war may very well make the 2003 Iraq War look like an afternoon tea social. If the Pope can appeal to the hearts and minds of the decision makers involved, he might avoid a catastrophe.

If we didn’t invade Iraq in 2003, we would have intervened in Iraq decades later especially if Saddam’s sons take over.

Any practicing Catholic ...

Can you imagine any Allied service member checking with the vatican for permission to fight Axis forces in WWII ?

I think it signals Vance is not going to run for President. This was the whole argument against having a Catholic president in the first place (John Kennedy), that he would modify U.S. foreign policy because of the vatican.

1. Is Vance attempting to mediate between Trump and the Catholic Pope, and

2. Is this ongoing Trump-Pope tiff why Vance is not headed back to Islamabad to lead the U.S. negotiation delegation in talks with Iran??
