Musk: Universal HIGH INCOME via checks issued by the Federal government is the best way to deal with unemployment caused by AI.

Universal HIGH INCOME via checks issued by the Federal government is the best way to deal with unemployment caused by AI.

AI/robotics will produce goods & services far in excess of the increase in the money supply, so there will not be inflation.

The new age of plenty will far exceed the current age of plenty we live in.

AI and robots will produce everything eventually, including themselves. It will be an interesting time to live. Getting there will likely be a bit bumpy though.

Hey, Elon, how about if you and the other tech bros actually produce this cornucopia of goods and services FIRST.

Then we’ll talk about how to manage the surplus.

So, must have missed this the magic AI-—

Can AI create vegetables and harvested beef, pork or chicken— products called such under the REAL world of Actual Intelligence.

Elon is off Asperber’s meds if he is on any in this bizarre suggestion of UBI maxi Socialist and anti-reality post of “digital” production of “products”. What products needed for human life are “produced” by the digital fabrication world of AI. Answer— churning digital “transactions” proving nothing real produced except...fake “currency”, and he thinks it should all come from “government”== which is, in our Constitutional Republic.... us, the People who assent to do so.

We DON’T.

If I’m tracking, here... the notion is that — at some [inconceivably] distant future point — AI and AI-operated machines will be doing most all of the work, thus producing almost all of the economic activity, both domestic and international, and so the humans will — for the most part — be engaged in volitional recreational activities...?

So... AI ships transporting goods across the oceans to and from AI-operated ports with AI-operated robots, cranes and trucks, AI-powered Customs inspection robots, paperless manifests, etc...?

And the AI driven trucks would go to AI-operated warehouses for further distribution by AI-driven vehicles to AI-operated retail locations where a mix of human-owned robots and actual humans might come to shop and buy these goods...?

And one might perhaps see humans employed only as — what — Robot Maintenance and Repair...? Or POSSIBLY staff at very nice restaurants and resorts...?

And Elon doesn’t think having 8 billion plus humans with nothing but time on their hands is untenable as a social model?

This kind of thinking is what sank Spain.
About 15% of the country works. The rest sleep, wait till 10pm and party till 5am.

Hmmm....i thought inflation was tied to supply and demand prior to the fed sticking their fingers into our pot.

Even FDR knew this:

The lessons of history, confirmed by the evidence immediately before me, show conclusively that continued dependence upon relief induces a spiritual and moral disintegration fundamentally destructive to the national fibre. To dole out relief in this way is to administer a narcotic, a subtle destroyer of the human spirit. It is inimical to the dictates of sound policy. It is in violation of the traditions of America. Work must be found for able-bodied but destitute workers.

The Federal Government must and shall quit this business of relief.

When the AI companies have trillion dollar revenue. And 70 percent of the country do not have jobs. What is your suggestion? Everyone complains about an idea offered, but nobody knows how to fix this soon to be problem.

You boomers are either too stupid or too stubborn to see the fact that when you make most if not all of the actual fighting age male and female population not just unemployed but forever unemployable you will get armed revolution every time.

You think you can sit and collect social security and retirement while the younger generations are put out to.pasture as surplus. The first group put to the wall will be the olders who are seen as the root cause regardless of if they actually are.

The first group that organises on the hey we are not going to let them starve you out if you join us will be tens of millions of angry fighting age people and the drones they can wield. Who has more experience operating first person type games and thus real life drone tech.

Elon is smart enough to see the coming violent disaster when AI makes most of all labor and even white collar workers surplus. Also SSI is going to collapse with no workers paying into at a 3:1 or 4:1 ratio of younger worker to older taker. UBI is for you geezers too when the SSI crashes remember that.

There are no easy solutions, doing nothing is not going to be an option if you want to keep the peace and not have generational genocide.

Homerun hitters strike out a lot.

Musk has hit his share of homeruns.

But he strikes out here.

“What is your suggestion?”

I remember eating a $7 loaf of brown bread baked by a Ukrainian woman.

Oh yeah. I admire him and respect Musk’s intellect when it comes to engineering, but he should stay in his lane.

He is out there on various things (including his personal life) but when it comes to space related things, he has no peer.

essentially, “You can’t criticize this unless you have a better idea.”

An idea can be bad without coming up with a replacement.

“I’m being hit in the head with a hammer”

“Yeah, you complain, but do you have any BETTER suggestions?”

“um, stop hitting me in the head.”

“What is your suggestion?”

A magazine about NYC did an income survey.

Somebody was getting $240/hour (as I recollect) to tutor rich kids for college.

Bro, I’m not a Boomer but this is an insane take. We need to fear gamers coming out of their mom’s basement like the walking dead and they’re going to use drones to incinerate the elderly population who wronged them? This is some level of fantasy.

AI would have to produce an extreme surplus in tangible value first.
