The Democratic Party’s short-term prospects look great. The party’s long-term prospects look dismal.
First, the party’s auspicious present: Democrats are favored to win the House and have a shot at taking control of the Senate in the midterm elections later this year.
In 2028, the steady collapse of support for President Trump has increased the likelihood of a Democratic presidential win.
But in 2030, the Democrats’ glory days turn ugly as the party’s fortunes face the threat of a downward spiral.
First, if the Democrats do win back the White House and the historical pattern holds, voters will turn against the party in the White House. In all the midterm elections held during the first term of a president in the modern era, the president’s party has lost House seats with only two exceptions, in 1934 and 2002.
Even more damaging than the historical pattern, the 2030 census will inflict two brutal body blows to the Democratic Party by putting the party in a significantly worse position in the contest to control the House and the presidential battle to win 270 votes in the Electoral College.
According to current estimates based on population trends, Republican states will gain and Democratic states will lose six to 12 House seats and, with them, the same number of Electoral College votes.
Democratic-controlled states could presumably make up for two to three of those losses by using redistricting to eliminate Republican House seats, but there are constraints: major Democratic states — New York and Washington, for example — use independent redistricting commissions intended to prevent or limit explicitly partisan plans.

But if we stop counting illegals for apportionment, Dems never win again. Ever.
Is it that optimistic? How likely is it the Republican party becomes only a regional party and can’t compete in national elections? There are a lot of Republican states becoming more competitive, with none going the other way.
Pass the SAVE American Act!
Most likely:
Most voters are now Independent...neither R nor D.
A non-politician known in the sports or entertainment world runs as an Independent and forms a 3d party... a successful Ross Perot.
If the Democrats don’t allow Stephen A Smith in 2028 as he is not a professional politician, a Stephen A Smith type will emerge.
This article is by the NYT which basically is a wishful thinking and brainwashing tool of the rat party.
The sad part is the doomers here actually believe whatever the lefty media puts out. That unto itself is a factor in losing elections.
I don’t know what’s worse, the lying media or those that fall for the lies. See my tagline.
Correct, win in 2028, and it’s ours.
Lot of damage can be done in the short term.
Americans are voting with there feet. Blue States are losing population.
Bull squat.
So they can convert red states to blue states.
RINOs are set to Pounce in 2032?
Yes, but lose in 2028 and that garbage NTY is trying to sell us is just to asuage Republicans. “Don’t worry, if dems win Republicans will be back in charge in no time!” they know it’s not true.
Ok, erupted. Florida has become MORE red.
Amnesty for all illegals. Borders reopened. Two blue states added. Illegal voting codified. RINO’s get a piece of the pie.
Nah, they’ll kill the filibuster, pack the courts add senate seats in DC and PR and any other thing else u can think of.
Just because Blue States are losing D voters doesn’t mean Red States are gaining R voters. It’s the same as diluting population with illegal aliens but dispersing D amongst the R
It is in Florida
If they get the House, Senate, and the Presidency, we will have dictatorship.
Nope.
Some interesting information to keep in mind as we head towards midterms:
—Redistricting:
As a result of all of the recent redistricting following the 2024 election, Republicans are set to lock in ~12 new House seats, while the Democrats are set to lock in ~6 new seats.
A Democrat-led redistricting effort in Virginia could give the Democrats another +4 seats, but the referendum to do so takes place on April 21 and actually might end up failing.
Regardless, the Republicans are currently up ~6 seats in the House before anyone has even voted.
—Supreme Court Rulings:
The Supreme Court is expected to shut down the counting of mail-in ballots after election day, which has always mysteriously benefitted the Democrats (allegedly, this is one of their key mechanisms for voter fraud.) This is expected to be a 6-3 Supreme Court ruling in the very near future.
The Supreme Court is also expected to determine that all of the Democrats racially gerrymandered voting districts across the country are unconstitutional - if the Supreme Court issues this ruling prior to early June, it will go into effect before the midterms and the Democrats will lose 12-20 seats in the House. Simply put, this is doomsday for the Democrats.
