Oil prices could surge to as high as $200 a barrel if the Iran conflict extends into June and the Strait of Hormuz remains closed, Bloomberg reported, citing an analysis from Macquarie Group.
A war lasting through the second quarter could drive historically high real prices, analysts including Vikas Dwivedi said in a note, assigning a 40% probability to that scenario. A separate outlook, with a 60% probability, sees the conflict ending by the end of this month.
Brent crude (CO1:COM) is on track for a record monthly gain in March as the war involving the U.S., Israel, and Iran disrupts the oil-rich Middle East. The conflict has led to a near-complete shutdown of the Strait of Hormuz, sharply limiting energy flows critical to the global economy.
“If the strait were to stay closed for an extended period, prices would need to rise enough to destroy a historically large share of global oil demand,” the analysts said in the March 27 report. “The timing of the reopening of the strait, and any damage to energy infrastructure, will determine the longer-term impact on commodities.”
Brent (CO1:COM) was last trading near $109 a barrel on Friday, after reaching a crisis high of $119.50 earlier this month. The benchmark’s nominal peak remains $147.50 a barrel in 2008, according to Bloomberg data. Meanwhile, U.S. West Texas Intermediate (CL1:COM) was up +0.76% to $95.2 a barrel at press time.
On Thursday, U.S. President Donald Trump extended a deadline for potential strikes on Iran’s energy infrastructure by 10 days, pushing it to April 6. Iran has allowed 10 oil tankers to pass through the strait as a goodwill gesture, he said.
The closure of the strait “has sent both crude and refined product prices soaring due to the scale of the disruption,” the analysts said.

This 10 day delay just gives the democrats 10 more days to turn public opinion against the President.
I thought the Democrats wanted $200 dollar a barrel oil so they could sell solar panels?
Trump is Bad is what I call this site
“We’re all gonna die” - Again.
We're doomed.;-)
Could
EV’s too, the Greenies would love it.
I’ll pay a little more as long as the USAF promises to work even harder killing Islamic state terrorists on the ground in Iran.
It could, but it won’t.
Something tells me “analyst including Vikas Dwivedi”
is long Brent Sea oil futures.
Sell the panic
Buy the facts
Isn’t it fascinating that the liberal world is very concerned that oil be cheap and in abundance?
And we “could” be hit by an asteroid.

P/M Netanyahu seeks to avoid an Israeli vote
Because the Iran war gives him no boost in polls
The Straits Times ^ | Mar 25, 2026
A Times of Israel poll on March 19 showed Mr Netanyahu’s Likud party would likely
win a puny 28 of the Knesset seats, down from the present 34, falling short of a majority.
Mr Netanyahu had assured Trump “Mossad said” Iranians would throw our their rulers. Now reversing himself, Netanyahu has acknowledged there was “no certainty” Iranians would overthrow their rulers.
As the war nears a fifth week, on which Netanyahu apparently built his winning reelection prospects, a war win now appears remote. Netanyahu’s only strategy is to “buy time.”
So what is Netanyahu telling Trump now?
Sure hope Mossad does not have another brainstorm.

Another obscure “news” outlet. All have one thing in common. Their articles are always written to reduce support for the Admin. I am sure they part of a well funded propaganda op.
And all life on earth could be wiped out IF a really big meteor hits it.
sez who?
Then again... It might not. We’re just guessing.
