Jennifer Daskal, a Biden administration official who helped launch the short-lived Disinformation Governance Board, has been appointed as an advisor to the Foreign Intelligence Surveillance Court (FISA) as of Feb. 1.
Daskal will serve as amicus curiae, meaning “friend of the court,” and will advise judges on “legal issues related to foreign surveillance warrants in national security cases,” according to the Washington Free Beacon.
Daskal is best known for her involvement in the Biden-era Disinformation Governance Board, for which she drafted the character. Daskal reportedly helped select Nina Jankowicz to serve as the board’s director. Jankowicz, you’ll recall, is the woman who performed a Mary Poppins parody about “disinfo.”
In 2016, Jankowicz promoted allegations that President Donald Trump colluded with Russia, according to the Washington Examiner.
Jankowicz “has cited Christopher Steele as a disinformation expert, made misleading claims about the funding of his dossier, cast doubt on the Hunter Biden laptop story, downplayed Iranian election meddling, and critiqued the Wuhan, China, lab leak hypothesis,” the Washington Examiner claims.
Daskal previously served as senior counterterrorism counsel at Humans Rights Watch, a nonprofit which received a $100 million grant from George Soros in 2010. Daskal herself was the recipient of an Open Society Institute Fellowship, an organization founded by Soros.
Human Rights Watch claimed, in 2017, that the election of President Donald Trump “capped a campaign marked by misogynistic, xenophobic, and racist rhetoric and Trump’s embrace of policies that would cause tremendous harm to vulnerable communities, contravene the United States’ core human rights obligations, or both.”
Republicans are concerned by Daskal’s new appointment.
The presiding judges of the FISA Court just appointed Jennifer Daskal to advise the secretive court. She helped create the Biden Admin’s Disinformation Governance Board.
Insane.

“The American people need to have confidence in the people tasked to serve as amici before the Foreign Intelligence Surveillance Court,” Republican Iowa Sen. Chuck Grassley told the Washington Free Beacon.
Republican Missouri Sen. Eric Schmitt sounded the alarm on X, calling Daskal’s appointment “[i]nsane.”
“Yet another reason for reform,” Schmitt continued, attaching a video of himself grilling Daskal on her involvement in the Disinformation Governance Board during a hearing in 2025.
“Senator, it’s my view that it’s not appropriate for the government to censor any points of view,” Daskal says in the video.
“Literally, you were a part of the Disinformation Governance Board of the United States of America. My contention is, the Orwellian name of Ministry of Truth was already taken, so the Disinformation Governance Board slid right in. And you were a big part of this. I mean, you wrote the charter,” Schmitt returns.

The same FISA up to its neck in skullduggery in the runup to the 2020 election?
Who is the appointing judge and can they be immediately removed? This is certainly grounds for it.
Presiding judges of the FISA Court appointed Daskal. The FISA is part of the federal judiciary branch.
Presiding Judge, FISC: Anthony J. Trenga (designated May 28, 2020) - nominated to serve as a United States district judge by President George W. Bush on July 17, 2008
Presiding Judge, FISC Review Court: Stephen A. Higginson (designated Feb 25, 2021) - Nominated by Obama to a seat on the United States Court of Appeals for the Fifth Circuit
Pull her security clearance. Problem solved.
>Pull her security clearance. Problem solved.
Exactly. “Clearance removed due to pending investigation.” Then give no details.
Judges are lawyers. That alone is reason to not trust them.
However, this exercise seems to be something altogether different, a permanent position, with presumably some prestige attached to it, to advise the court on legal matters, but to be done in secret.
So we have a secret court, being advised in secret, that has a history of mismanaging its docket at great damage to the nation.
Quite apart from whether the court should exist at all, the fact that it operates mostly in secret makes the risks of some sort of cronyism in this appointment all the more dangerous.
I think she drafted the Charter.
No editors.
A good catch by Chuck Ross at WFB drawing attention to the latest Amici curiae appointed to the FISA Court.

Adding to a string of leftist ‘advisors to the court’ Jennifer Daskal has been appointed by FISA Court Presiding Judge Anthony Trenga.
Daskal was the Biden administration principal deputy general counsel at the Department of Homeland Security who launched the Disinformation Governance Board (Ministry of Truth) ultimately led by Nina Jankowicz.
Jennifer Daskal’s career has centers around controlling information from a leftist perspective and was one of the core officials who used the term dis-mis-mal-information to censor speech on social media platforms around COVID-19 and the vaccination protocol.
Daskal’s reach and control into big tech and social media is well documented. Appointing her as an advisor to the FISA court is troubling as she has joined Amy Jeffress, appointed amicus curiae in 2015 (Biden’s personal attorney), David Kris, a 2016 amicus curiae selection (denied Carter Page FISA application contained fabrications), and the infamous Mary McCord appointed amicus curiae in 2021 (sits at the center of every stop-Trump operation).
Washington Free Beacon – A Biden administration official who launched the Disinformation Governance Board and served as co-chair of the so-called Ministry of Truth has been appointed to advise the powerful Foreign Intelligence Surveillance Court, prompting concerns from some Republican lawmakers.
The presiding judges of the Foreign Intelligence Surveillance Court and Foreign Intelligence Surveillance Court of Review appointed Jennifer Daskal on Feb. 1 to serve as amicus curiae for the court. Amici curiae, known as “friends of the court,” advise judges on legal issues related to foreign surveillance warrants in national security cases. Daskal served as acting principal deputy general counsel at the Department of Homeland Security under Biden. In that role, she drafted the charter for the Disinformation Governance Board, according to a Jan. 31, 2022 memo. (read more)

The “presiding judges” of the court appointed her - they need to be looked at....
“Jankowicz “has cited Christopher Steele as a disinformation expert, made misleading claims about the funding of his dossier, cast doubt on the Hunter Biden laptop story, downplayed Iranian election meddling, and critiqued the Wuhan, China, lab leak hypothesis,” the Washington Examiner claims.”
This nut likely spreads more disinformation than Adam Shifty. She has no business anywhere near D.C.
Republicans Tense Up
Is that what they do right before they “pounce”?
The mother of all AWFULs.
Time to get rid of the FISA court, & all that created it.
Congresscum, every one of them.
What happened? Did she lose her liberal ho job?
