David Axelrod complains about the rising costs of Obamacare
X ^ | 02/12/2026 | David Axelrod

Through family, I heard about a couple in WI who started a small business and were planning to expand. Now, with their ACA premiums TRIPLED due to congressional inaction, they've had to scrap plans to expand & grow. I'm sure that scenario is repeating itself all over the U.S.

Anything government gets involved with fails. They should stick to governing per the constitution and let the free market work.

State run health care has long been a wet dream for Communists. The state is then given the power of life and death and can deny it to anyone who resists . You are forced to pay for the chains they bind you with. Slavery by scalpel. Their tinkering with medicine has made it into the byzintine mess it is today. Part of the plan to get us to buy us into a complete take over .

There are four possibilities in regards to public Healthcare.

1. You can cover all things for all people and all the time. It just wont be cheap.
2. You can cover some things for all people and all the time to keep it cheap.
3. You can cover all things for some people and all the time.
4. You can cover all things for all people, just not all the time.

Republicans should be united in reminding the American people Obama care was supposed to make healthcare affordable and it's now more expensive and costs keep rising.

Over and over and over, every opportunity they have.

The mantra should be Obama Care has been a failure.

I’m pretty sure Universal Health Care was not intended in the phrase “common welfare”.

The demand for free health care is insatiable and presents a moral hazard. (I’m fat, you owe me Ozempic!)

TRIPLED due to congressional inaction

I think what he's referencing is the extension of EXTRA subsidies from the government put in place by Biden in 2020.

I wonder if the cost has tripled relative to 2019?

That’s not a bug, that’s a feature.

All meant to eventually bring about Single-Payer.

Spot on. Obamacare is as expensive as it ever was. It’s just not covered up by taxpayer covid subsidies anymore.

Axelrod knows this. He’s being a true democrat and lying about it.

It’s real rich of them to complain about the cost of Obamacare, now I remember the second year it came out. We had to spend 23 thousand dollars before we got any coverage. We ended up not having any health insurance for years. We relied on God, and made it through.

The “temporary” Covid subsidies were paying 2/3 of the entire cost of an individual’s health coverage??

When my Obamacare was passed, two of my boys were young adults (early 20s), and not yet fully into their careers, and I told them to carry catastrophic health insurance. I told them I’d back them for the deductible, but that they shouldn’t ruin me by being careless and having no insurance at all in case of a catastrophe.

The insurance premiums they had TRIPLED the moment O-care was instituted.

Somehow Axelrod is finding a way to blame this on Republicans? Very clever!

David Axelhead: you and your marxist plant, Barack Insane Obama, foisted the Unaffordable Care Act on the country. We all knew it was a loser of a program at the time. You intended it to grow government and collapse the health care system. We don’t want to hear anything further from you two commies.

ObamaCare was only able to exist through direct government subsidies to the insurance carriers. Congressional “failure to act” really means that the Republican led Congress refused to continue this charade. So, with subsidies removed, the true cost was revealed. Obama and his acolytes assumed that implementing ObamaCare would set us onto an irreversible course to single payer, government provided, socialized medical care system.

ObamaCare is, and always was, a huge cost to the taxpayer. Only now the mask has been removed.

The GOP had a chance to get rid of this monstrosity and failed like it usually does. So we’re saddled with yet another bureaucratic nightmare of a program with out of control spending.

If you subsidize something you get more of it.

While some portion of healthcare services are necessary and unavoidable, a large chunk of it is heavily subject to financial incentives.
