Mark Elias, DNC and Hillary Clinton lawyer, is backing a lawsuit filed in Minnesota on behalf of illegal alien detainees.
Taxpayer-funded lawyers sue the feds to create more demand for their product. I’m not kidding.
The lawsuit (viewable here) was filed yesterday in federal district court in Minnesota (Case No. 26-cv-479) and reported this morning. The lawsuit was filed as a “class action complaint” with the proposed class being all illegal aliens being held in federal custody in Minnesota.
The plaintiffs include a Minneapolis-based nonprofit, The Advocates for Human Rights. They put out a press release this morning under the headline,
The Advocates for Human Rights, Individual Detained In Minnesota Sue DHS Over Denial of Access to Lawyers
According to the press release, The Advocates are represented by the Washington, DC, legal nonprofit Democracy Forward. According to the most recently available tax return (2024) for the Democracy Forward Foundation (DFF), the nonprofit is chaired by attorney Mark Elias. In his long career, Elias has served as an attorney for the Democratic national party and Hillary Clinton, among other clients. Also serving on the DFF board is Ron Klain, the former Biden White House chief of staff. DFF also posted the press release.
Aliens held in ICE custody are allowed to have lawyers represent them, but they are not entitled to free, federal-taxpayer-paid lawyers provided to them. The lawsuit appears to seek guarantees that detained aliens have assured access to state-taxpayer-funded attorneys.
The “individual detained in Minnesota” mentioned in the press release is not named in the lawsuit, but is separately represented by the powerful local law firm Fredrickson and Byron.
The defendants in the lawsuit are the usual collection of federal agencies.
According to state government databases, The Advocates have received almost $1,100,000 in grants from the state Department of Human Services over the past two fiscal years. The Advocates are advertised on official State of Minnesota websites. The nonprofit also receives donations from local law firms and individuals.
The Advocates’ business model appears to be to gain the release of ICE detainees and use their lawyers to add the cases to the decades-long backlog at the local U.S. Immigration Court. It’s de facto amnesty, without an act of Congress. And you, the taxpayer, get to fund every single aspect of it.
Speaking of detainee release, the number of habeas corpus filings in the local federal court are now up to 463 in January, so far.

“powerful local law firm Fredrickson and Byron.” I wonder if they’re as powerful as the law firm of Dewey, Cheatum & Howe.
Of course he is.
Because he’s not in jail where he belongs . . .
I wish someone would do a class action lawsuit against Elias..
It would seem that this azho doesn’t have any standing.
Damn, greedy shyster lawyers. They all need to be hunted down and shot. They are a great threat to democrazy.
Lawyers belong on the bottom of the ocean.
Right BELOW WHALESH!T
Marc Elias is one of the most evil men in America. He is the mastermind behind Democrat vote fraud.
Proof enough to me that the org that set this up was really the Clintons starting with Hati back in the 90’s
I’d be floored if Eisen wasn’t in favor of lawsuits.
That is a name that belongs on a cell at Gitmo.
Make that Elias.
I think there’s a Spanish term for Elias. It sounds something like pink cheese cool arrow.

Organization says mixing immigration and terrorism harms Muslims
Two anti-Trump organizations filed a lawsuit Monday arguing that a government report earlier this year linking immigrants to most of the country’s terrorism cases since 2001 is so misleading that it violates federal law.
The request seeks to recruit federal judges to police the accuracy of the administration, in what — if it’s successful — could become a model for anti-Trump groups to push back on a president they see as having a tenuous connection to the truth.
The January report concluded that 73 percent of the 549 people convicted of international terrorism between 2001 and 2016 were foreign born.
Activists were infuriated by the report at the time, and now two groups — Muslim Advocates and Democracy Forward — have sued, saying the investigation “misleadingly inflates the threat they pose to the United States,” and “inaccurately” focuses on Muslims.

Check the legal cost account for the Clinton Foundation for what they are probably paying Elias, one guy who should have been jailed long ago.

Point is, his former law associates, Perkins Coie, cut him lose a few years ago once they realized that as partners, they were becoming coconspirators if things turned against them.
IMHO, they are co-Conspirators. They were 100% the Dossier, they had an FBI terminal in the offices of Perkins Coie that they used for political purposes and to research political opponents of Obama and the Clintons.

I call him “KING”, Obama used the FBI for political purposes by placing a terminal in the law offices of Perkins Coie. Elias is but one of the people there that utilized federal information and resources for political purposes.
