The Jehovah's Witness JESUS is STRANGER than you think! {half hour video}
https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=XN3YEjodTtw
..... and they changed it to ...."the Word was A god"
It’s real hard in jail ministry where JW and Christianity, triune God, Holy Spirit and eschatology collide.
The battle is real teaching who Jesus is and sometimes the hostilities run over.
Years-decades ago I worked with one of them. He was undoubtedly one of the WEIRDEST people I have ever known….his superior attitude was only surpassed by his stupidity. Part of the reason I left that job was to get away from him.
Christian ping
The people who “translated” their “bible” (the “New World Translation” a/k/a NWT) were compelled at one point to testify in court, under oath, that they had no professional credentials indicating knowledge of Biblical Greek.
the Mormons do that too.
You could have held him at bay had you kept a Mormon book and/or a Church of Scientology guidebook on your desk..As soon as he witnessed to you, you could have counter-witnessed. gets rid of them almost instantly.
That’s true (how they changed it)
We worked in a small machine shop, and ran the same machines. More than once I was blamed for his screw-ups until it was determined that they were his screw-ups. I couldn’t stand him. Also, a part of it was his obsessive-compulsive behavior that caused him to lose focus on what he was supposed to be doing. He surely had a head full of faulty wiring.
“You probably already know JWs deny the Deity of Christ, but it gets a lot weirder than that.”
I’ve noticed that regardless of brand affiliation, it’s always those other people who are definitely guilty of wrong-think. Religion, politics, philosophy.. whatever the ism.
Much of the Jesus wars involve the Establishment’s shooting fish in a barrel. Today it’s the JWs. Tomorrow maybe the Mormons. Over and over again til Kingdom Come.
If the Messiah believed the approved party line dogma (pick a flavor) for his necessary qualifications, he’d be unable to recognize himself. He’d never even consider filling out the application.
HR departments everywhere = living parables. So much pride in keeping the “wrong guy” away from the job.
Man judges by outward checkboxes, whereas God looks upon the heart.
David wasn’t even lined up for the selection process. He was out in the field, caring for his sheep.
People busy haggling over the correct doctrines will be too distracted to see him coming. That does explain how he could sneak right up out of the blue even as signs all over the place announce that he’s coming soon.
Big surprise, go figure.
JW’s...
Video confirmed just another man made organization to distort Jesus.
.
No man comes to The Father But By Me.
Jesus
In my experience, JWs tend to be lower social class, uneducated, and enjoy being crybullies.
They love to argue inane points, so I stop them by telling them God is triune and that Jesus is fully man and fully God. End of engagement.
First question; “Where do JWs get their name?”
Answer is ALWAYS; “From Isaiah 43:10...“You are my witnesses,” declares the LORD, “and my servant whom I have chosen, so that you may know and believe me and understand that I am he. Before me no god was formed, nor will there be one after me.” Isa 43:10
Second question; “Is Jesus your Savior?”
Answer is ALWAYS “Yes”
Third question; “Do you believe that Jesus is God?”
(They don't. They're taught that Jesus is A god)
Fourth question; “OK. Please read the NEXT verse, 43:11, to me?”
Answer: “I, even I, am the LORD, and apart from me there is no savior.”
Last question; “How do you reconcile this?”
...then the argument starts
“Have a great day!”
The intent is not the argument, it is to compel them to consider the hypocrisy of the doctrine they're trained to parrot, with the prayer that God will do the rest.
I will modify my strategy.
Thank you!
All too often I fall into the trap of beating someone over the head with truth, just to win. And, that is NOT motivated by Love, so as Paul wrote, truth without kindness and love is less than useless (paraphrased).
I need to try to help them see their error, and then speak the truth, in hopes that that the Holy Spirit will open their eyes.
JW’s hope you are ignorant of Scripture. They are the epitome of “Don’t be so heavenly minded that you are no earthly good”.
Mormon are hoping you are ignorant of them not having the Book of Mormon in its original form when they repeat “The Bible is accurate if it is translated properly”. We have the Bible in Hebrew and Greek. The Mormons have no way to verify whether the BOM is translated properly.
SDA’s are so Sabbath-focused they don’t have time for all that Savior and Grace stuff.
In all 3 cases, they feel the Bible needs a lot of help and can’t stand on its own. That’s why they default to handing out their own literature. They need to ‘splain you what it says. That’s a red flag.
Just a sad sad bunch of misguided people that need prayers.
Cults of any kind are not religions, they are political tools. JW, mormons, muslims, etc.
I always tell them if only 144k will be totally redeemed, isn’t recruiting more damaging your chances?
BTW, what I mentioned, I do using a copy of their altered version of the Word. When they see you bring out their book, they're caught off guard. They changed much of it, but God's Truth still shines through their deception. They didn't change it enough... thankfully.
Another suggestion...
Learn John 1:1 in Greek, with correct pronunciation and inflection. Understand it.
This verse reads as follows...
“In the beginning was the Word, and the Word was with God, and the Word was God”
Step 1:
Ask them if you can share a verse with them. They will willingly listen. GUARANTEED, because they want to engage, thinking they're ready to refute any verse you bring, ESPECIALLY John 1:1...because their book altered it in a major way.
Recite John:1 in Greek, from memory, to them, WITHOUT TELLING THEM THE VERSE BEFOREHAND. And ask them if they know what you just said. They will have NO IDEA because they haven't studied Greek. Offer to recite it again! They ONLY parrot what they've been (sadly) brainwashed into believing.
If you were to mention John 1:1 first, they will tell you it says;
“In the beginning was the Word, and the Word was with God, and the Word was [A] God”
That definite article “A” changes the entire context.
So if you mention John 1:1 first, then read it in English, they'll GUARANTEE say; “That's not what it says is. Greek! It says ‘A god’”
By reciting it in Greek FIRST, without telling them the verse address and they say they have no idea what you just said to them, then you've proven to them they do not know what it says in the original language and therefore have taken their “original language” claim off the table and again have sown doubt in what they've been told by the watchtower society.
Last input...
The JWs will claim that Jesus never claimed to be God.
Point them to John 10:22-33.
The pharisees understood EXACTLY what Jesus was claiming-so much so that they picked up stones to stone Him...
32Jesus answered them, “I have shown you many good works from the Father; for which of them are you going to stone me?”
33The Jews answered him, “It is not for a good work that we are going to stone you but for blasphemy, because you, being a man, make yourself God.”
A bit more to help shine God's truth into the lives of the lost. These JWs were told to walk away from all family and friends to join the watchtower club and those relationships are lost to them. Once they're accepted into the cult, they're threatened with being kicked out of they disobey. They're stuck for now, BUT GOD can do exceedingly abundantly...
Look at them as brainwashed prisoners with compassion.
Once upon a time, I met one over the phone in a business context. The subject came up and I merely asked her questions, which she in turn brought to the JW leaders. For many moths this went on and they got angry with her and she got angry and frustrated with them in her search for truth. Many tears were she by her during that time. Eventually, she met me at my church and kept returning, to ultimately be completely broken, going forward and meeting God and His Son & surrendering to HHim.the JWs hard her turn herback on her family and friends, then turned their back to her. She risked much to walk away. We dated for about a year, she ended up with a Bible study at her apartment and eventually got married. To this day, I don't believe I've met a woman who is more of a Berean than she became.
JWs are prisoners to a cult.
Give them the keys to unlock their cell and run to their Savior. They become POWERFUL witnesses for Him and to HIM be all the glory.
