This was 30 years ago before Bush Jr. OPENED THE FLOODGATES for Illegals to come to the US.
Back then, Illegals were seen as a threat to the Communist Labor Unions and thus the Democrats opposed Illegals (and, for the record, Republicans supported Illegals for the same reason). Now the number of Illegals are so high that the Democrats are within reach of their long-held dream of turning the US into a One-Party DICTATORSHIP, so the Democrats flipped their position.
(but I know, even a one-party Communist dictatorship is better than your GOP Senator/Congressman, because that person said something mean about Trump 10 years ago - right Purists?)

Joe, this was all bullshit on Clinton’s part. Behind the scenes, his administration was pushing to speed up the naturalization process for illegals prior to his re-election. Democrat lawyer David Schippers, who worked with the Republican house managers on Clinton’s impeachment was investigating this and wanted more time to continue it, because he believed there was enough evidence to bring another impeachment charge against Clinton. He wrote a book titled “Sellout”, which includes this info. Clinton lied all the time, and this is just another sxample of it.

The damage W. Bush did to our country by allowing Mexican Embassies to issue legal IDs (Matrícula Consular Cards) is why we are in the current mess with ICE.
Fast forward about 10 years, the Democrats and Republicans were fighting over who had the best plan to give amnesty to illegal immigrants.
The Trump administration's "extreme" policies were simply a return to the relative sanity of 30 years ago.
