Huzzah!
Yes, the U.S. Ninth Circuit Court of Appeals recently ruled (January 2, 2026) that California’s law banning the open carrying of loaded handguns in most populous counties (over 200,000 people) is unconstitutional, violating the Second Amendment, following the Supreme Court’s Bruen standard which requires gun laws to have historical roots in U.S. tradition. This 2-1 decision found California failed to show a historical tradition of such bans, a crucial requirement for upholding gun restrictions post-Bruen, impacting about 95% of the state’s population.

We sure could use some of that Bruen stuff here in Colorado.
You guys in CO are screwed.
Dirty Jena wants to be AG, and who knows who will replace Polis-smoker - Bennett or Wiseguy?
No. Only a portion was struck down.
The asinine CaCaLand law banned open carry in any county with >200K residents. The 3-judge panel said that is stupid and struck it down.
What they (2 0f 3 judges) also said was that the US’s history back to 1791 had open carry — which makes some sick twisting of the Bruen decision impossible.
But, the full 9th circuit panel will step in and uphold the law.
