Australian Officer Ends Bondi Beach Terror Attack with 43-Yard Pistol Shot

Australian police officer near the tree, shortly before he takes out the terrorist. The distance is 130 feet, 43 yards. It appears closer because of the camera distance and angle.

More details are emerging from the chaos of the Jihadi terrorist attack on Bondi Beach. A video from the Australian Broadcasting Corporation gives some of the details. In 5 minutes and 52 seconds, 103 gunshots were fired. Time sense during life and death situations often stretches out because the mind speeds up. The phenomenon is called tachypsychia.

At about 1.5 minutes into the event, the older terrorist is disarmed. By 3.5 minutes, he is back at the footbridge, shooting back toward the area where he was disarmed. At 3.5 minutes, the terrorists are taking incoming fire and ducking for cover as rounds impact nearby.  At about 4 minutes, the police officer can be seen approaching the younger terrorist from behind, as discussed in the previous article.

A source from Australia, who has been very reliable, says he has seen a video, not released to the public, which shows the officer, who took cover behind the tree, is the officer who shot and disabled the younger terrorist. Recent updates show it is likely the same officer killed the older terrorist less than a minute earlier.  The source stated that he estimated the distance to be 40 meters, or approximately 130 feet.

With that information and Google Maps, this correspondent was able to estimate the direction of the officer from the footbridge and make a good guess as to which tree the officer was behind. The distance to the terrorist position was measured at 130 feet!

43 yards is good shooting for a pistol while under stress. Out to 100 yards, 9mm trajectory is such that a direct hold on target is sufficient, with only about a 4 inch drop below line of sight, depending on initial zero range, of course.

Will the families of the terrorists now sue the police officer?

Too bad that the officers did not have AR15/M4 carbines. Many lives would have been saved. The AUS government is not serious about protecting citizens. Not nearly as much as they protect themselves while they do their virtue signal dance.

That’s a good shot that most any competent shooter can make under normal circumstances. It’s better in a stressful situation. What we don’t know is how many shots he took before hitting the terrorist or what type of handgun he was shooting.

RE: Which officer shot the Christian fighting with the terrorist over the weapon?

I’m a little confused over this hero who tackled one of the shooters. Some said he was a Muslim immigrant, others say he was a Christian. We know his name to be Ahmed Al-Ahmed. What’s the truth? Is he Muslim or Christian?

It seems to me that the distance and the location of the officer are the least relevant factors; the important thing is that he neutralized the terrorists.

Good shooting! Wow!

I train at 25 yards pretty hard under stress. It takes a lot of practice to have your breathing and adrenaline up and still make that shot. 43 is totally impressive.

"What’s the truth? Is he Muslim or Christian?"

I said Christian because that was what he was identified as originally. Doing a search, I've found him recently identified as a Syrian muslim. Jewish donor have helped raise $1.3 million on GoFundMe for him and his family.
