A local Bondi detective who joined the cops because he “hates crime” heroically exposed himself to danger and delivered the fatal gunshots that killed a terrorist on Sunday afternoon.
Detective Senior Constable Cesar “Cess” Barraza fired at the two alleged terrorists from an estimated 40 metres away, as they held their position on top of the footbridge and fired upon the crowd of innocents.
His shots are believed to have killed Sajid Akram, 50, and likely also severely wounded his son, Naveed Akram, 24.
A veteran of 16 years experience in the NSW Police Force, Det Snr Constable Barraza was previously featured on 2000s reality TV show “Recruits” which followed young cops starting out their careers.

Smart man. Shooting a pistol braced certainly improves accuracy at distance.

Finally an ACTUAL hero, and not the fake ass “hero” Ahmed who let the shooter go and kill more people.
The Aussie crude excuse for a government will arrest him 3, 2, 1.....
Good shooting.
And the tree provides cover. Good shooting at 40 meters.
“Ahmed who let the shooter go and kill more people.”
That’s the first I heard that. Is that true?
I saw Ahmed grab the rifle away from the terrorist. He should have fired a couple shots into his legs.
Ahmed al Ahmed was shot at least five times.
If you don’t think he’s a hero, I’m not sure what information you are relying on.
What with? It’s believed the gun was empty by the time he had it in his possession.
Superb!
It appears the murderers had Shot Guns but can’t say for sure.
.
Only way to stop a Bad guy with a gun
Is a Good Guy with a Gun!
Yep, I’m a pretty good shot free hand at 25 yards, but 40 would be difficult.
One guy had a straight pull bolt action rifle with some kind of after market site on it.
Ahmed al Ahmed disarmed one of the gunmen, but the gun he took off the man is believed to have been empty by the time Ahmed got hold of it (for all those people who are asking why Ahmed didn’t then shoot the gunman).
At some point - it’s not quite clear exactly when at the moment, Ahmed was shot approximately five times probably by the other gunman. That allowed the one Ahmed had disarmed to return to the other on the concrete bridge where they had cover. There was about a two minute period in which he was disarmed before he returned.
Both gunnmen were then shot while on the bridge. One died at the scene, the other was severely wounded and is still under police guard in hospital.
40M kill shot with a pistol.
Well done.
One had a shotgun, one had a bolt action rifle.
They appear to have had six weapons in total, but these were the ones I’ve seen them using and am sure about. I’m not sure if the other weapons were used - well, I believe one other was, but I haven’t so far seen a clear view of what that was.
I’m seeing a lot more of the video footage than has become public in the media.
“and not the fake ass “hero” Ahmed”
So, a guy that tackles a gunman is not a hero but a cop behind a tree is?
sight not site
Okay, now I see what happened. Thanks for those details.
