The Islamic Revolutionary Guard Corps (IRGC), a U.S.-designated terrorist organization and arm of the Iranian military, seized an oil vessel allegedly carrying “smuggled diesel” in the Persian Gulf, Tehran revealed on Thursday.
The unidentified ship was reportedly flying the flag of E-Swatini and was part of what Iran alleges is a massive trafficking scheme to steal Iranian oil and sell it abroad. The IRGC revealed the news on the same day that the Iranian government condemned the United States for staging a similar seizure of a ship accused of carrying illicit oil in the Caribbean following an appropriate warrant process. The U.S. government accused the seized ship in question of carrying sanctioned oil being used to profit the narco-regime governing Venezuela and its allies in Tehran.
The Iranian embassy in Caracas, Venezuela, accused the United States of “piracy” for seizing a ship accused of carrying illicit oil shipments hours after Iran revealed it had seized a ship accused of carrying illicit oil shipments.
According to Iran’s Tasnim News Agency, IRGC commander General Heidar Honarian announced that the ship and 13 men on board were captured. He identified the men as Indian and from an unnamed “neighboring country” without elaborating.
“The IRGC said in a Wednesday statement that its naval forces had confiscated an Eswatini-flagged vessel transporting 0.35 million liters of smuggled diesel,” Tasnim reported.
“Iran has stepped up efforts to curb the smuggling of Iranian-made oil products in the Persian Gulf,” the outlet claimed. “These products, mainly motor fuels, are illegally shipped to Arab states in the region, where fuel prices can be more than 20 times higher than those inside Iran.”

LOL.........possibly Iranian rulers seizing their own smuggling tanker, to be sent on its way tomorrow.
“E-Swatini”??????
Well ok then…
But the follow-up…
WTF is an E-Swatini???? Sounds like a new venereal disease…
Eswatini is landlocked! How can it have any ships at all?
ah yes....one of the mysteries of international shipping...why not Swiss flagged ships too?
Has the Iranian government designated US agencies or the US Navy a terrorist organization?
Interestingly, Swaziland is landlocked and has no ship registry. I read that the ship’s home port is listed as Portsmouth. There’s no town by that name in Swaziland, so it must be the one in Ohio.
I’ll have a swatini shaken not stirred.
Not sure but I do recall the US being called the great Satan. Israel is the lesser one I think.
🤣
This is obviously a direct response to the seizure of a tanker in Venezuela.
The Iranians did a similar thing when a different was seized in greece, the iranians took one in response. I think both sides eventually released both tankers in that case.
Send in a SEAL team to recover the seized tanker, capture the IRGC pirates and hang them all for piracy.
Why would we use navy seals to capture a tanker from Swaziland from the Iranians? That’s kind of far and loose with the lives of American fighting men..
And speaking of piracy. What legal concept allows America to issue a ruling out of DC that shipping cannot happen between Iran and Venezuela? If it doesn’t involve an American ship, an American bank, or an American port. It’s pretty much piracy on our part.
Let the Eswatini navy deal with it.
They outdid themselves and designated us the Great Satan.
It took me a sec to figure this out.
Iran lacks sufficient refining capacity. So, it doesn’t want what refined products it does produce to leave Iran.
Iran has a MUCH greater water problem, anyway. If it keeps going the way it looks like it will, we could see 50 million thirsty Iranians trying to escape the country.
Iran domestic oil consumption about 1.8 million bpd.
Iran refinery capacity 2.2 million bpd.
The Iranian seizure is unrelated and affects the US not one whit.
See my post above about Iran’s refinery shortage. Some years they can’t even produce enough refined products for themselves.
I don’t understand how you can declare it is unrelated when you really don’t know for sure what is in the mind of the iranian leadership on this.
