GOP rift opens up over resettling Afghan refugees

The plight of Afghan allies desperately trying to flee the Taliban is exposing divisions among Republicans, with some pressing the Biden administration to help resettle those people who helped the U.S. military and others stoking nativist fears about an influx of refugees.

The rift comes as Republicans have tried to remain unified in their criticism of President Biden’s handling of the messy U.S. military withdrawal from Afghanistan.

The GOP divide is taking place at both the state and national level.

Maryland Gov. Larry Hogan (R) was one of the first GOP governors to say his state is “ready and willing” to receive more refugees after Maryland is already posted to receive at least 180 Afghan citizens under the program that allows special visas to those who helped the U.S.

Senate Minority Leader Mitch McConnell (R-Ky.) also expressed support for accepting Afghans who assisted the American military.

What I do not see in these type of FR threads is the money ($).

Since at least Bush jr, the feds pay these “refugees” a monthly allowance. For how long I do not know BUT about six years ago I did a job in an Iraqi “refugee” home. They volunteered that they were getting $1,300 per month per person (six in the home) and came in under Bush jr.

Guy asked me if that was why the neighbors hate them.

I am well aware of what these politicans who are what we refer to as RINOas are in reality. The RINO faction are as orrupt & complicit in the decline of the nation as are the Dmocrats. I tell my friends in Md. all of the time that they are helping nothing by voting in these worthless politicians who if are not really Democrats, might as well be, because they are not figting for this nation. That everytime we get our side in office, they will only flitter away the opportunity & will only enrich the Democrats by their timidness to lead. Instead, they like to present themselves as being able to work twith the opposition party, as if being bipartisan is this marvelulous thing, even though the Democrat never returns that bipartian wonder ideal. Instead they cave when the Democrats stand firm to the party desires are in conflict with the RINO agenda.

However, you never really made any comment to that point, instead, by posting it & not voicing what you are now saying, you are only reinforcing te notion that MAGA is breaking into divisions, when it avoids that whom they are talking about were never part of MAGA to begin with, to provide the impression that the Democrats are employing a brilliant strategy to take down MAGA, and that MAGA is bad to the core aso. Just look at these wornderful Republicans who are also fighting back against this racist & fascist movement also.

Perhaps you need to better state your message, if you want to counter these traitors who want to pomote the narrative that MAGA is having problems & is in the process of crashing & buring. I know full well that you are capable of doing this.
