Kevin Roberts of 'Heritage Foundation' on Tucker Carlson-Nick Fuentes Scandal
Complete Summary – October 27 to November 9, 2025
Overview of the Scandal
The controversy began after Tucker Carlson interviewed white nationalist and Holocaust denier Nick Fuentes on October 27, 2025, in a two-hour podcast that amassed over 17 million views on X. Carlson asked softball questions, nodded approvingly, and did not challenge Fuentes’ antisemitic remarks, praise for Hitler and Stalin, or claims about “organized Jewry” controlling U.S. politics. Carlson also accused pro-Israel American Christians of having a “brain virus” and being heretics.
This triggered bipartisan outrage, with critics accusing Carlson of normalizing neo-Nazi ideology.
Note: The interview was not adversarial. Carlson’s tone and lack of pushback were widely interpreted as tacit endorsement, not mere platforming. This became a central point of criticism across conservative, mainstream, and Jewish media.
Kevin Roberts’ Initial Defense (Oct 30–31, 2025)
Heritage Foundation President Kevin Roberts released a video on October 30 defending Carlson as a “close friend” of Heritage and opposing efforts to “cancel” him or Fuentes.
“Christians can critique the state of Israel without being anti-Semitic. Conservatives should feel no obligation to reflexively support any foreign government… I disagree with, and even abhor, things that Nick Fuentes says, but canceling him is not the answer either. When we disagree… we challenge those ideas in debate.”
— Kevin Roberts, Heritage Foundation President
- Framed criticism as a “venomous coalition” imposing loyalty to Israel.
- Emphasized free speech, American interests first, and rejected “cancel culture.”
- Called the backlash divisive and aimed at sowing division among conservatives.
Trending on X (Oct 31): Statement drew sharp rebukes from Senate Minority Leader Mitch McConnell, Senator Ted Cruz, and pro-Israel advocates, who accused Heritage of mainstreaming hate.
Note: Roberts later admitted in a leaked staff meeting (Nov 5) that he “didn’t know much about this Fuentes guy” — a revelation that fueled internal outrage, given Fuentes’ long public record of Holocaust denial and Hitler praise.
Immediate Backlash & Media Coverage
Wall Street Journal Editorial (Nov 2)
“The New Right’s New Antisemites”
Mediaite (Nov 3)
Summarized WSJ’s “scathing op-ed,” highlighting Roberts’ initial Jew-baiting and scramble to list Fuentes’ “odiousness” amid criticism.
NY Post Op-Ed by Rich Lowry (Nov 3)
Accused Carlson of “poison[ing] us with hatred”, but noted Trump as a barrier.
FrontPage Mag by Jamie Glazov (Oct 30)
- Called Carlson’s Israel claims “vicious and grotesque lie[s].”
- Defended IDF’s efforts to spare Palestinian lives; accused Carlson of ignoring:
- Palestinian indoctrination to hate/kill Jews
- Hamas human shields
- Christian persecution under Islam
- Biblical ties to Israel/Judaism (e.g., Jesus in the Temple, Passover Seder)
- Questioned Carlson’s Christian credentials and motives.
CNN NewsNight with Abby Phillip (Oct 31)
Panel discussed MAGA divide. Key points:
- Phillip: “Shocked” Heritage defended not canceling Fuentes.
- Criticized Tucker’s nodding/implicit endorsement.
- J.D. Vance at Turning Point: Granted premise that Israel “controls” U.S. presidents (said Trump isn’t).
- Eric Erickson: Roberts/Vance courting young Zoomers via tolerance for inflammatory positions.
- Warned of hypocrisy in condemning left-wing antisemitism but not right-wing.
- Potential for Fuentes to fill void post-Charlie Kirk’s murder.
Note: Panelists compared the GOP’s tolerance of right-wing antisemitism to selective outrage — condemning campus leftists but defending Fuentes as “debate.”
Internal Heritage Revolt and Resignations
Leaked Internal Chats (NY Post, Nov 3):
- Staff called Roberts’ defense “ridiculous,” “embarrassing,” “disgusting.”
- One: “Most embarrassed I’ve ever been to be a Heritage employee. It’s not close.”
- Criticized hypocrisy: Roberts canceled Boston College Republicans but defended Fuentes.
- Some interns reportedly agreed with Fuentes.
- Donor hemorrhage: Evangelical and Jewish contributors fled.
- Heritage scrubbed Tucker Carlson Network sponsorship from donations page.
Note: Princeton professor and Heritage board member Robert P. George publicly condemned white supremacy in conservatism and reportedly tried (but failed) to oust Roberts.
Kevin Roberts’ Clarifications and Apologies
Broader GOP and Conservative Reactions
- GOP Figures: McConnell, Cruz, Randy Fine (“Carlson has gone ‘insane’ and is ‘dangerous’”), David French, Eric Erickson, Laura Loomer.
- Republican Jewish Coalition Summit: Ted Cruz: “More antisemitism on the right than in my entire life… existential crisis.”
- Ben Shapiro on CNN (Nov 6): Praised apology but called Carlson a “conspiracist laundering antisemitism.”
- Bill Maher (Nov 8): Carlson evolved from “bowtie Republican” to “world’s oldest groyp[er]” platforming Holocaust deniers. Rep. Jared Moskowitz: GOP antisemitism like asking Jews to choose “Germany or Egypt.”
Political Fallout and Electoral Links
- Israel Hayom (Nov 5): Blamed GOP election losses (e.g., Zohran Mamdani as NYC mayor) on distraction with conspiracies over economy/security. Trump failed to unify party.
- Blog Post: Carlson’s “populist poison” pushing young Jews leftward — echoing Charlottesville 2017’s role in Biden’s 2020 campaign.
- USA Today (Nov 6): Heritage made “wrong choice”; Roberts apologized under pressure.
Note: Pew Research (March 2025): 72% of white evangelicals favorable toward Israel; majorities of Muslims (81%), unaffiliated (69%), and Catholics (53%) unfavorable.

The division is mighty. Guess who is laughing? The communists.
This is all sad. Tucker, Shapiro, Fuentes,Levin...all of them are opinion people, Opinions.
Anyone remember Trump was almost assassinated, Kirk was assassinated, we blew up Iran for Israel? Anyone remember the debt clock? The deep state?
We all need to step back a little maybe and find common ground because this is going to sink the who damned ship.

This is a nothing-burger blown out to a crazed proportion.
Getting mad someone didn’t say something about someone else’s interview?
This is equivalent to teen girls fighting over nothing.

Getting mad someone didn’t say something about someone else’s interview? There has been an orchestrated effort, led by Mark Levin, Dinesh D'Souza and Ben Shapiro, to cancel anyone that refuses to ostracize Tucker Carlson.
Staffers even resigned from the Heritage Foundation because Kevin Roberts refused to.
So, it's not a nothing-burger. It's cancel culture tactics from the GOP establishment.

The bigger problem is Tucker, seeking to promote Darril Cooper and loco Nick Fuentes masking his promotion as "just asking questions." What a hypocrite liar.
