No sure the Founders built it, pre se. Jefferson was an architect. Washington was in it before it was finished.

President’s House in Philadelphia was the third U.S. presidential mansion. New York City had served as the first national capital under the U.S. Constitution, from April 1789 to August 1790. The ironic, likely result would have been for slavery to have persisted beyond Lincoln's Emancipation Proclamation in 1862.Not by much. In 1862 the industrial revolution was on the near horizon.
