X: Acosta Sworn Testimony - Clears Trump re Epstein
X (GOP Oversight) ^

Posted on 10/18/2025 5:05:16 AM PDT by TigerClaws

Oversight Committee @GOPoversight BOMBSHELL: The Acosta transcript just DESTROYED the Democrats' Epstein–Trump smear.

Ranking Member Garcia and @OversightDems have spent months pushing a LIE against President Trump.

🧵 Here are the receipts they don't want you to see: 1/ Acosta NEVER talked to Trump about Epstein.

Not in person. Not on the phone. Not over email.

"He moved in circles that I did not move in." (p. 65)

That's straight from his testimony.

/ Trump's name? Did not appear in the case. (p. 129)

"I have no knowledge of Donald Trump's name appearing in any Epstein document ... (or) being associated with the Epstein investigation in any way."

"If there was, it's pretty spectacular it hasn't leaked by now." (p. 130)

3/ Did Trump appoint Acosta because of Epstein? No.

"Not in the least bit, no." (p. 124)

Did Trump ask Acosta to resign? No.

"[It] was my choice. It was not suggested by anyone at the White House that I resign." (p. 124)

This entire talking point was fabricated by Democrats.

4/ Why did Acosta resign?

"If you become a distraction, then it's not appropriate for you to serve in these jobs. ... I did not want to be a distraction to his administration, and I chose to resign." (p. 125)

The media and Democrats said he was forced out. Another lie.

5/ What about Epstein's sweetheart deal?

"We had an ASSURANCE that he would be in continuous confinement." (p. 44)

"And had we known that he was going to get work release, this WOULD NOT have gone forward." (p. 156)

Palm Beach betrayed that deal, and Epstein walked. 6/ According to Acosta, the plea deal was about getting Epstein IN JAIL when a trial risked letting him off completely.

"The trial was a crapshoot, and we just wanted the guy to go to jail." (p. 26)

Democrats knew this and lied anyway.

Fascinating. Never saw a lot of this information before. Never heard a whisper about it being a deal to get him into jail. WHO had the power to get work release for Epstein in Palm Beach? That seems the big question.

No surprise there.

In our country, the lie has become not just moral category, but the pillar industry of this country.”

From a search:

As the U.S. Attorney for Florida, Alex Acosta approved a plea deal in 2008 that allowed Jeffrey Epstein to plead guilty to state charges and avoid federal ones. While Acosta did not directly grant Epstein work release, the lenient deal ultimately resulted in the Palm Beach County Sheriff's office approving the work release program that allowed Epstein to leave jail most days.

It was not as clean as Acosta seems to indicate. A great deal of the plea negotiations were done through the US Attys office and not the PB prosecutors office. The drafting of the plea agreement had to be reworked and all that was done due to Fed laws. The plea hearing itself was in the County system specifically for the local jail opportunity/work release issues, and possibly to avoid victim statements at sentencing. And, yes people’s names like Trump, Clinton and Randy Andy were well known to have surfaced in the investigation although there was no causal link of bad behavior. Certainly Trump was not placed in a bad light other than typical rumormongering by press and locals.

Oh, a whole lot of bargaining went on, for sure. Many meetings and even dinners with Epstein. These things are never truly “clean.”

And, yes, Trump’s name, along with countless movers’ and shakers’ appeared if only by way of the flight logs.

So do you think Acosta was lying or just that the new information hasn’t spread?

Oh, I don't think he is lying. When he stepped in, he assessed the information already judged as pertinent to the case, with possibly tons of extraneous stuff aside.

Re: the work release, I suppose he should have known that was a possibility, but, even now, I'm not sure that is important.

He never went to the island.

Don’t omit the fact that Trump severed ties with Epstein long before the case came to light, was the only high profile person to eagerly assist the prosecution, that he had barred Epstein from his properties, and that victims claimed they NEVER saw Trump doing something inappropriate, otherwise you are shading the truth.

I never said President Trump went to the island. I have never insinuated that Trump is one iota implicated in the Epstein case. My post was not an effort to re-write "War and Peace" here. I know a whole lot about this case. Not every factoid is relevant to every thread.

It’s time for Trump to release ALL of the Epstein files, as he promised to do in his election pitch.
