The Attorney General of the United States just opened an investigation into the Command Staff of the Portland Police for refusing to enforce the laws over ICE protests in Oregon.
Chicago is next - following the shooting of an armed offender who was involved in a mass ramming of ICE vehicles, this went out over the PDTs:

The evil democrats and their judges have started a war against the Republic….a war against the will of 80% of citizens. Only 18% support them n their treason.
The democrats in Portland, Chicago and other states should be subject to arrest.
Top level Chicago politicians have had the support of criminal gangs in Chicago in the past... Something murky and dark in the way they’re acting.
If they will follow these orders, thinking people should be seriously concerned about what other orders they might be given and be willing to follow. The slippery slope is already in play.
Where do the rank and file draw the line? Each time they don’t refuse illegal & immoral orders makes it harder the next time. Eventually, instead of just passively doing nothing they become active participants in the crimes.

With the level of training they get NYPD officers can go pretty much anywhere and get hired, so long as they have a clean disciplinary record. If Mamdani gets in, they WILL leave en masse.

IF they CHOOSE to not respond.....then they are not police. Their oath sworn to the public was just noise and null and void. The police union needs to stand up for their officers who want to respond. This is an absolute disgrace.

Well, sometimes the police unions are a creature of the leftist labor unions. And that is problematic when it comes to these issues. The LEO union in my agency was affiliated with the SEIU! And it was a closed shop, so I had no choice in joining. And the thing they seemed at excelling in was covering for incompetent f**k-ups. Aftee my probationary period was over I had nothing to do with that union. And as I was a good worker I never had need of their services. The only thing of note that they did for me was getting the law changed for active and retired officers from my agency Law enforcement exempt on our CCW’S.

It's more and more like the Old West. The railroad men and bankers hire gunslingers to intimidate the common folks and if they go to the sheriffs they learn the sheriffs are working for the corrupt elites and won't help them.
