Will be odd optics. Everyday the dollar loses value. The Trump dollar coin will be the new symbol of that.
I see nothing indicating if it will be a silver dollar or a slug made of base metal.

That law applies to circulating coins only, not commemorative coins. Presumably, the Trump coin would be a commemorative issue.
I think I’d rather have a separate, circulating coin for the 250th.
It’s only a dollar, but it carries twenty dollars worth of symbolism.
Print all the commemorative coins you want. Leave the money alone.
Except that we need a new $500 and a new $1000 bill.
I’m tired of counting all those damned “C” notes, every time I buy or sell an expensive item.
