Two days ago, Chuck Schumer threatened Donald Trump with a good time. Now, the White House threatens to make the good time permanent. Literally.
The deadline for a government shutdown is fast approaching, and Schumer tried to play hardball this week. He and Hakeem Jeffries demanded a meeting with Trump to negotiate, which Trump initially accepted, but canceled after the pair demanded a massive list of concessions before the meeting took place. Schumer then told the press that Trump was "chicken" and that any shutdown would be his fault -- even though the House had already passed the clean CR that Schumer had demanded when Joe Biden was president-ish.
Of course, even with the spin, that stlll leaves Trump in charge of any shutdown. As I explained on Tuesday, that would give any aspiring swamp-draining president plenty of opportunity to hammer Democrats' constituencies, but even I may have underestimated Trump's ambition. The Wall Street Journal reports today that they will use any shutdown as an opportunity for permanent mass firings, not just furloughs...

Shumer will blink. The govt shutdown will allow for Trump to permanently fire Govt employees. It’s not a short vacation this time with full back pay. The Govt employee Union will not allow it to happen.

Because darned sure, Donald Trump won’t blink. Look you dead in the eye right up to the decision point. And down at you in the aftermath.
This is why Schumer agreed to the CR that was passed in March and infuriated his left flank at the time for siding with the Republicans.

What is so damn amusing is that all spending has to originate (in theory) in the House. If the Senate amends the bill, it goes right back to the House. What if the House says “no”?

The Democrats fear a government shutdown. If it happens, the people will realize that the world has not ended and most likely we can do without the non-essentials.
It’s government’s job to do three things: provide a stable secure currency, provide for the common defense, and provide infratstructure. I wish we could get back to that.
A man who hangs a picture of The Autopen where Biden’s should be is not living in fear of the likes of Schumer.
Schumer is as competent as Biden or Kamala or Hakeeem or AOC, meaning he isn’t. They won’t shut down government, government is their temple.
Trump should just tell his people to cut, cut cut, and stay in the budget. Stop paying people. Courts can’t do anything since the law stands at the budget. Don’t raise the cap, live under it.
You ever get the feeling that Trump is playing Chess, and the Dems are stuck with Tic-Tac-Toe?

The bull$hit artists don’t seem to get Trump. POTUS isn’t afraid and the usual tricks don’t work - especially when they “don’t have the cards”.
