Not possibly in Scotland. Members of the public may own certain firearms for the purposes of sport shooting, recreation, hunting or occupational purposes, subject to licensing. Did you see personal safety in that list. Different country.

It seems to work for them. The UK generally has lower rates of violent crime, especially gun-related incidents, compared to the U.S.

It’s not my precious, it’s theirs. I respect their right to govern their land as they deem necessary. If there was a problem as this has been going on for over 300 years, then perhaps the people of Scotland should have fixed it before this. And they didn’t get it done before this.

I was in Kuwait and Afghanistan. I’ve contributed to a number of them not being able to raping or killing anymore. And it’s Chuck if that’s the one you wish to use. But I think I’ve contributed to the American way of life. And I also respect their right to govern it as it is. I’m just an old senior NCO and civil service manager that has played the game. And as you know since you are knowledgeable in the legal system, there are paths, but also limitations. And there is always another story. If you go by the book, then they have to invent ways to get you.

A child on the street attempting to defend herself is in no way comparable to your role in the military. (BTW, thank you for your service.) The focus of many of the responders on this thread was empathy for a minor child living in an environment fraught with danger. Frustration with the legal systems in both countries induced people to respond positively to the girl's behavior.

Are we watching the same video? Can you tell me where he physically attacked her to do harm? He could easily have done it but didn’t. And what happened to the other girl that just grabbed her phone and walked away? No attack there either. And didn’t the knife possessing girl walk to her left a ways down the sidewalk and then turned and came back brandishing her knife in a threatening manner? Appears like she physically threaten the migrant.
I don’t care what people think of her or the migrant in this scenario. But I respect the laws of their country they established as long as they respect ours. And I spent about half my life defending our right to do so. I would be awful hypocritical to say they can’t.

You’re partially right. I spent half my career 17 years is half, with the government evaluating terrorist groups and their actions like the muslims you are talking about. So I may have a little more experience than the common person on the street with that. And I don’t trust a single thing CNN says.
