President Trump on Monday evening fired Biden-appointed Federal Reserve Governor Lisa Cook amid mortgage fraud allegations.
“Pursuant to my authority under Article II of the Constitution of the United States and the Federal Reserve Act of 1913, as amended, you are hereby removed from your position on the Board of Governors of the Federal Reserve, effective immediately,” President Trump wrote in a letter to Lisa Cook.
“I have determined that there is sufficient cause to remove you from your position,” Trump added as he cited housing regulator Bill Pulte’s criminal referral on Lisa Cook for mortgage fraud – specifically occupancy fraud.

It is an unseemly look that a person involved in setting the interest rates for the rest of us is cheating the system to get favorable interest rates for herself. That would be an example of "malfeasance," right there - wrongdoing by a public official.
My question is: if there are two separate legally executed mortgages that both declare the property to be the primary residence of the same person, isn't that prima facie evidence right there? Does President Trump have to wait for a trial and conviction to fire her, or does the evidence stand on its own and he can fire her for "malfeasance?"
What explanation can she put forth that a reasonable person would accept? She can't say that she didn't know it was wrong because she's a Governor at the Fed -- using that excuse would be grounds for dismissal as incompetent for the job. She might say that she forgot about the first loan, but ignorance is no defense.
