They’re facing a horrendous future and likely death if they stay.

I think the Boer farmers would be compatible with the Amish and Mennonites.
Most would thrive more easily in a rural area, a place geographically similar to where they came from. Better to postpone their random encounters with jealous feral people, who clearly dislike all whites. Treat them sort of the way most Amish (the real ones) would expect to live. Those who desire a faster pace of life, can go seek it, after living here in peace for a while.
