It’s official! I’m running for Governor to ensure Tennessee is America’s conservative leader for this generation and the next.

I would be honored to have your support. #TNGov

That sucks big time. Now we have another seat to defend. We’ll end up with another Bob Corker.

She’s sick of defending Thoon’s duplicity.

Wait for Harold Ford Jr. (D) to run

I’d be very interested in your take.

I’m not overly up on the Tennessee GOP (my summer in Nashville was 1991), but IIRC generally the governor, like many southern GOP governors, isn’t an authentic fire-breather. Could this shake up the establishment.

Governor’s and state legislatures have all the power to make positive changes in states, school choice, election integrity, etc all come from the states for the state.

She was just re-elected in November 2024 to her US Senate position. If she doesn’t win (and there is at least one other serious Republican candidate) she’ll be back in the US Senate since her current term doesn’t expire until 2031. I’m ambivalent about her Governor’s race. She votes the right way but she’s not a particularly nice person.

For a black, Memphis, Democrat, Harold Ford does a pretty good imitation of sanity. I mean, he’s not Jasmine Crockett crazy.

I agree. I like him on The Five.

He's a potential threat, like Beshear

If she is elected Governor, how will her Senate seat be filled?

Does the current Governor appoint her replacement, since she would have to resign as Senator before being sworn in as the new Governor. Or does she appoint her replacement after being sworn in as Governor? Or will there be a special election to fill the remainder of her term?

**Marsha Blackburn = 73 years old.**
That will make her 78 when her senate term ends. I guess she could appoint her successor to serve until a special election is called. Should we hope for a primary loss?

Harold Ford-I don’t like him on the Five. He’s their Washington Generals and if you really listen closely he doesn’t say much. It doesn’t help that they keep cutting him off.

Confused by your comment. Marsha Blackburn won with 63% of the vote in 2024. She will handily dispatch her dem opponent. She does have one Republican challenger so far in her governor race, congressman John W. Rose. As noted, if Rose beats her, she still hase her Senate seat. If she wins, Gov. Bill Lee or herself will appoint her replacement.

I see nothing but pluses in this senario.

Tennessee has 7 house districts, all of the republican. They will have a special election to fill a seat from Mark E. Green who rsigned this summer.

• Vacant Office - 9 June 2025: “It is with a heavy heart that I announce my retirement from Congress ... I was offered an opportunity in the private sector ... today I notified ... the House of Representatives that I will resign from Congress as soon as the House votes ... on the reconciliation package ... there will be a special election to replace me ...”
4 July 2025: Member of Congress Mark E. Green (Republican) announced his resignation effective 20 July 2025.

The election will be December 2, 2025.

I like her. She is a decent person. But no one in politics is Mr. Rogers. If there is someone who gives that impression, check your wallet.

Read my post$14.

No need to be confused. It’s the senate that’s more important than a governor’s job. Anytime a new senator takes office it should be good for 2 full terms. This seat may be safe but we don’t need the distraction.
