There is widespread hunger in Gaza, which has worsened
considerably in recent months due to Israel’s official policies.

There’s Catastrophic food insecurity: According to the IPC, the global standard for measuring food insecurity, 470,000 people are facing catastrophic hunger, with the entire population of 2.23 million facing high levels of acute food insecurity.

Starvation and malnutrition deaths escalate: The Palestinian Health Ministry reported 43 deaths due to hunger in the five days leading up to July 23, 2025. As of July 26, 2025, 127 Palestinians have died from malnutrition since the conflict began in October 2023, 85 of whom were children.

Children are particularly vulnerable: Over 1 million children in Gaza are at risk of starvation, according to the U.N. Palestinian agency, UNRWA. Acute malnutrition rates among children have more than doubled in recent months, with 9% of children under 5 now suffering from severe malnutrition.

Gaza Hospitals are overwhelmed: and are continued targets if Israeli bombings. Hospitals are overflowing with malnourished patients, reaching their “breaking point” with 94% damaged or destroyed due to the conflict. Doctors are reportedly fainting from hunger while trying to treat patients.

Israel creating Dangerous conditions for aid seekers: Over 1,000 Palestinians have died trying to access food in recent weeks. Distribution sites, some controlled by the military, have become increasingly dangerous, with reports of shootings and stampedes resulting in mass casualties.

Aid restrictions and distribution challenges: International calls are growing for Israel to end the restrictions on aid distribution, which some experts allege violate international humanitarian law. Distribution is further hampered by security impediments and a breakdown in law and order. Israel maintains the restrictions are necessary to prevent Hamas from diverting aid.

The situation is dire, with many organizations describing it as a looming famine.

Israel denies the existence of starvation but witness accounts and data from humanitarian groups paint a grim picture of a population struggling for survival amidst severe food shortages, violence, and restricted access to aid.

Since Israel prevents the limited resumption of humanitarian assistance into Gaza on 19 May, the World Food Programme (WFP) has only been able to bring in small amounts of life-saving food.

A desperate humanitarian crisis what to Israel is allowing happen in Gaza. Children suffering from severe malnutrition as 470,000 people face mass starvation. The humanitarian situation in Gaza has reached crisis proportions...

Israel’s military “emphasizes that combat operations have not ceased” in Gaza against Hamas, and it has asserted there is “no starvation” in the territory.

Yet Gazans starve to death as aid agencies warn Israel’s threatened “airdrops” won’t alleviate crisis.

‘Isreal Can’t Fake That:’ Pres Trump addresses famine in Gaza
Trump Breaks With Netanyahu WRT Starvation in Gaza
Israel’s Gotta keep US tax dollar billions rolling in

President Donald Trump addressed the ongoing concerns of famine in Gaza on Monday, breaking from Israeli Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu’s Sunday comments in which the Israeli lied to keep the US tax dollars rolling in.....Netanyahu’s money grabbing whopper: “There is no starvation in Gaza.”

Trump was asked about the humanitarian crisis in Gaza while meeting with British Prime Minister Keir Starmer in Turnberry, Scotland. “It’s going to be working where the United States will be helping with the food. You know, we have a lot of access to food; we got a lot of food ourselves, and we’re going to bring it over there. We’re also going to make sure that they don’t have barriers stopping people,” Trump said when asked about the issue. He added:

You know, you’ve seen the areas where they actually have food, and the people are screaming for the food in there. They’re 35, 40 yards away, and they won’t let them because they have lines that are set up, and whether they’re set up by Hamas or whoever, but they’re very strict lines, and we have to get rid of those lines.

But we’re going to be getting some good, strong food. We can save a lot of people. I mean, some of those kids are — that’s real starvation stuff. I see it, and you can’t fake that. So we’re gonna be even more involved. We did some airlifts before, some airdrops, and the people are running for it. And the Prime Minister is going to help us. They’re very effective with that. You’ve done that before and for many. They’ve done that for 100 years very well, so it’s not very hard to do, actually.

Widespread media reports have documented the dire conditions in Gaza in recent days as social media has also been awash with a typical amount of misinformation – including images taken from other war zones or out of context.

Israel announced a pause in fighting on Sunday to allow for food distribution and to assist UN agencies in aid delivery. Aid distribution sites have become flash-points of violence in recent weeks as shootings have killed scores of Palestinians, with both sides blaming the other for the mass killings.

When I saw that picture, the woman looked pretty healthy. Maybe she should give the kid some of her food, but it was also a staged photo op.
