It’s easy to think of American voters as hopelessly polarized, with few true Independents or undecided voters.
But when you look beyond how people vote, to what they actually believe, the picture is more complex.
In 2025, we expanded our Political Quadrants to include a third dimension gauging Anti-Establishment sentiment. We then took the combined responses and clustered them, uncovering eight Political Tribes in the American Electorate.

Echelon have been around for awhile they are generally viewed down the middle pollingwise and did pretty accurately call the election in 2024. It does give you the mind of the independent voter which seems to always be slightly more democratic they just are embarrassed to call themselves that. Kamala actually won independent voters in 2024 she just got crushed by trumps voters coming out in mega force to swamp whatever numbers she had.
Independents always lean democrat why people act like this is the most importantly group of voters they are not you just turn out your base something Trump excels at but not the rest of the gop
