She’s free to tell the truth. But she’s also free to lie.

You are incorrect. If she lies she can be prosecuted for the lie. I assure you she and her lawyer were very careful so as to not inadvertently give false testimony or even worse just plain damn lie. She wants out of jail. She will not lie and add more years on her sentence. She is telling the truth.

Let’s start with some important sentences in that article:

Is this true?

“Prosecutors are not permitted to write up interview reports and are not sworn law enforcement officers with training to document an interview of this kind.”

and is this true?

““If Blanche was meeting with Maxwell alone, that’s obscene malpractice,” another former federal prosecutor, who had decades of experience, told CBS News. “He can’t testify and become a witness, nor can he write a report of their meeting.””

and is this true?

““It’s unprecedented for the deputy attorney general to be directly involved in interviewing someone who’s been convicted of a crime and may be interested in cooperating to get leniency,” one former senior Justice Department official told CBS News on the condition he not be identified”

Got another instance to show it is not unprecedented???

“ Got another instance to show it is not unprecedented???”

Gen Z writers and their ilk love the word “unprecedented.”

I don’t think it means what they think it means. LOL

My guess in all the years of DOJ there has got to be some cases....at least one.

But still, if only a few cases it makes the point that this is abnormal which is really the point.

Its okay to be abnormal. Trump has done plenty of things that are not the norm.

But it sure is funny to go from Trump bashing supporters and saying it is a hoax to sending down this guy to interview Maxwell.

All of this didnt start until she said she was starting to document things when she felt like Trump wasnt taking care of this situation.

No, she is free to tell the truth without repercussions. This is probably limited to existing convictions and not new and unrelated crimes.

great... the only person of 100’s who actually was being held to account for their actions is getting immunity.

Limited immunity means she is immune from any further prosecution pertaining to this case, or the case they outlined for her counsel.

Anything outside the scope of the agreement she doesnt have to answer.

She also gives up her fifth amendment rights under this targeted immunity

She is now known as what used to be called a rat, in mob terms.

Generally in mob cases, they used blanket immunity. Everything is covered for the crimes they committed up to that point. But, if they commit any crime after the agreement date, they can be prosecuted for that new crime.

It just about broke the mob. The NY mob, the Chicago outfit.

“If Blanche was meeting with Maxwell alone, that’s obscene malpractice,” another former federal prosecutor, who had decades of experience, told CBS News. “He can’t testify and become a witness, nor can he write a report of their meeting.”
Prosecutors are not permitted to write up interview reports and are not sworn law enforcement officers with training to document an interview of this kind.
“It would be a mess,” the former official said. “The first rule of a meeting with a witness is to have an agent present.”
As another former prosecutor put it: “This is not typical.”

Total BS. All that was needed was a video recorder with a time stamp. It takes away the risk of human error and bias taking the notes. In this day and age, the credibility of law enforcement not recording such things is suspect.

Not quite. A lawyer can't participate in a case in which he/she can be called as a witness. So, they have someone from LE present to testify as to what was said, and then the lawyer isn't needed to testify about it. That doesn't mean the lawyer can't take notes. All of this can be recorded, and then it's not a problem. What is unsaid is that the LE person will not accurately transcribe the notes in order to favor the prosecution. That's how it's played.

The other reason for doing this, is if there is nothing further to prosecute, the interview can be released to the public without needing a judge to unseal anything. If there is more to prosecute, people will be happy. If there is nothing left to prosecute, Trump’s team can release the transcript and show he kept his promise to be transparent about Epstein.

So graphic. Horrible.

Good evocative writing, though.

Ghislaine didn’t kill herself.

I believe she made that abundantly clear.
