Israel’s surprise attack on Iran in the early morning hours of June 13 saw more than 200 aircraft strike more than 100 targets in Iran. Among the targets were key Iranian commanders, including the head of the Iranian army and also the head of the Islamic Revolutionary Guard Corps. This type of decapitation strike is how Israel dismantled Hezbollah, Iran’s ally in Lebanon.

When you repeatedly call for the destruction of a people, don’t be surprised when they attack you in defensive strikes.
Iran has been calling for the destruction of the United States (great Satan) and Israel (lesser Satan), for over 45 years.
Lord knows the concept of “boots on the ground” is an artifact of the 20th century. That’s just Forever War stuff now. Hit them from the air if you must, squeeze them economically if you can, support political movements from within if it seems sensible. But regime change (”nation building”) from the ground is stupid. Obviously, Israel would never invade Iran. No one thinks that for a second. But I have heard people express concern that the US might fight a ground war in Iran. That is equally ridiculous.

As Rush has said: “Words mean things”. So that’s where I draw distinctions between Iran and another enemy the Neocons want us to hate.

It depends on what they ultimately feel they need to drop on Iran to put an end to the threat and I doubt Trump would try to stop them.
