NATO’s Ukraine War Strategy Is a Total Sham
National Security Journal ^ | 6/9/2025 | Andrew Latham

Let’s dispense with the fantasy right off the bat: Russia isn’t trembling at the prospect of new sanctions. Not now. Not after more than three years of war, hundreds of billions in Western aid to Ukraine, multiple tranches of punitive economic measures, and an endless cycle of condemnations and diplomatic theater. If Congress moves forward with another sanctions package this summer – as seems increasingly likely – Moscow won’t respond with panic. It will respond with calculation. Cold, strategic, and utterly unimpressed.

More sanctions won't do anything to end the Ukraine war. Sorry.

NATO is just another antiquated structure Europe uses to project power it doesn't possess

Does the ‘supreme commander’ of NATO still live in a castle?

Sanctions have never ever worked anywhere.

Russia has India, China and much of the Pacific rim as customers.

Project power along with sucking money and resources from the USA.

Like the vast majority of our foreign "allies." They get the our money, resources and muscle - we get their enemies, entanglements and bills.

“Sanctions have never ever worked anywhere.”

Actually, sanctions have worked, if your economy 100 times larger, that is (Serbia and Syria come to mind, although the Neocons still had to bomb the shit out Belgrade to get them to allow the terrorists to achieve their objectives). Doesn’t work so well against economies that are larger and/or with stronger militaries and/or virtually self-sufficient with an EDUCATED workforce.

In any case, Trump realizes that, so thankfully he’s back to trying to clean up the US.

“So you’ve admitted that sanctions dont work.”

Certainly the case regarding Russia.

What was Russias actual GDP last year?

4.0?

Sanctions were suppose to collapse Cuba. Might have hurt Cuba, but its government is still there.

I’ll tell you what works. No foreign entanglements and friendly trade with all.

“4.3. The US was 2.3 or 2.4. Boy do them sanctions work!”

Great Point!!! I’ve seen those numbers before. They back out all the crap in our GNP Numbers (Lesbian Studies, the 50% of US college students needing remedial courses, just to reach Asia 10th Grade levels, Lawyers suing doctors, etc.), and you get the REAL GNP ratios (which include manufacturing, mining, oil production, etc.).

Hopefully, the US gets broken out of it’s superiority complex and looks at the world REALISTICALLY, as that would greatly reduce the idiotic things we do.

When one thinks about how the US pays the salaries of the civilians and the military personnel in Ukraine... but Ukraine refused taking 6,000 bodies and the internal discussions was over no money to pay the families.

Now the soldiers are refusing orders. Desertions are skyrocking in 2025, with over 90k first 5 months and 205k for the entire conflict.

I look for mass surrenders and desertions this summer. Cat is out of the bag. Ukraine is hostage performing NATOs attack on Russia and it is costing France and England their banking solvency.

At this point, it seems only Trump realizes this new type of sanctions are designed to isolate the US from the rest of the world. The EU has already burned it’s bridges with both Russia and China... now the EU demands the US burn their trade relations with them; Biden tricked the stupid Germans into sinking their own economy over energy.

Intended Consequences for sure. When the trade wars are over, the EU will be groveling to the entire world for terms of trade.

Bob...its simple.
Foreign entanglements with none and freindly trade with all.

Every single founding father expressed that opinion.

BTW, as you know, another thing they said.
“Standing armies are a danger to all good government.”
