I’m Not Voting For The development Of Skynet And The Rise Of The Machines By Destroying Federalism For 10 years By Taking Away State Rights To Regulate And Make Laws On All A.I.
X ^ | 06/05/25 | Rep. Marjorie Taylor Greene

Posted on 06/05/2025 8:56:18 AM PDT by Enlightened1

I’m not voting for the development of skynet and the rise of the machines by destroying federalism for 10 years by taking away state rights to regulate and make laws on all AI.

Forcing eminent domain on people’s private properties to link the future skynet is not very Republican.

Also, AI is going to replace a vast array of human jobs, everything from media to manufacturing to even construction through AI computer systems and robotics

That means in my manufacturing district, that currently has a 2.8% unemployment rate, AI will replace many human jobs.

And my district with the one of the lowest unemployment rates in the country could go to one of the highest unemployed districts in the country.

And with this clause, the state of GA would have no way to regulate or make laws to protect human jobs, property rights, and the safety and security of people of the state of Georgia.

This may get stripped out in the Senate. But if not and it’s still in there, when we get to vote again I’m voting NO on this bill. And any future bill we see this little snake rare it’s ugly head again.

MTG was replying to Rep Thomas Massie.

“The Big Beautiful Bill contains a provision banning state & local governments from regulating AI.

It’s worse than you think.

It would make it easier for corporations to get zoning variances, so massive AI data centers could be built in close proximity to residential areas.”

Huh? She voted for the bill. Is she saying she’s taking her vote back? I don’t think she can do that.

Lots of propeganda against AI I’m noticing.

Sky net is not what is going to happen. Reality check here.

She’s also defending us against fictional things.

Mtg has chutzpah, but she (and others) must get real. That means using real language for real threats.

If we don’t develop AI... China will.

Listen more to Palmer Luckey, who is actually involved in this struggle than some poet who can influence your decisions with their forked tongue.

The sun is going to explode anyway, I’m not worried.

I’m torn.

I completely understand that our leaders don’t care about our welfare in the least bit and government regulation’s sole purpose it to pick the winners and losers. The people who currently control AI want regulation to protect their position and create barriers to entry.

On the other hand, it does seem like a 10th amendment question. The fedgov shouldn’t be in the business of telling a state what zoning, routing, etc...laws they can pass if they aren’t specifically given that right in the US Constitution.

She makes excellent points, expressed with her characteristic theatricality, which is a good combination.

I agree with her.

“And with this clause, the state of GA would have no way to regulate or make laws to protect human jobs, property rights, and the safety and security of people of the state of Georgia.”

The stupid runs deep in her.

Jobs should never be protected. Jobs are a contract stated or implied between employer and employee. There is no need for GA to protect either party.
Property rights should be the same for all property and imminent domain should not be used for private gain no matter the subject.
If people are harmed thety have recourses in criminal and civil law. AI does not require special laws to protect us from it nor does it need special laws to help it.

It sure would be nice if humanity heeded a crucially important lesson BEFORE it cost millions of lives and large percentages of our national assets... but we just aren't built that way, I guess.

Because the Senate is going to tweak it, it will have to pass the House again. So she does get a second bite at the rotten apple.

Wow you think A.I. should be above the law and the States?

Intersting...

The federal laws I believe are intended to keep local and state government from doing stupid things like passing laws that make it illegal for AI to replace humans. Or to use zoning to single changes that specially prevent data centers.

There was a similar law for the internet. It is why we are not saddled with the fairness doctrine for telecom providers.

The idea is to be hands off AI.

If someone develops an AI bot that kills someone they could be sued or even prosecuted under existing common, civil, and criminal law.

AI will eliminate jobs no doubt. So did the wheel, plough, steam then IC engines, electricity, automation, and computers. Every step was decried as the end of human jobs.

But since we are going to get all the handmade and painted cheap clay pot jobs back into the US there will be plenty of low skilled AI proof jobs.

A law preventing laws is not a law raising the object of the law above the law.

Everything of value in the world will be tokenized.

What does this mean for the future of AI and autonomous agents? What will happen when AI agents can own and trade assets?

Do you even know what is an A.I. agent?
