On today's Morning Joe, MSNBC contributor regular Pablo Torre, a Harvard alum who comments on sports and politics, denied that Harvard is "merely a hotbed of liberalism."
Torre's one bit of evidence in support of his claim was that the basic economics course at Harvard used to be taught by an economic adviser to President Reagan. The course is now taught by someone who quit the GOP in protest against Trump, and is a global warmist who advocates carbon taxes.
In saying that Harvard is not "merely" a hotbed of liberalism, Torre apparently meant that the university is not exclusively liberal. And he's right! After all, this 2022 survey found that a mere 80% of the faculty described themselves as "liberal" or "very liberal." Only 1% of respondents stated they are “conservative,” and no respondents identified as “very conservative.”

I agree, fetid swamp full of communists is more like it.
This is the guy who’s always preening about being a “real” journalist. His big get on the year was a second bit of footage with Bill Belichick leaving an AirBnB condo after a night with his little girl honey.
In related news, Mr. Torre says that 1+1 equals 37. And anyone who disagrees is a Nazi.
And this likely DEI guy exposes himself as an idiot here. Harvard is famous for not paying much attention to the undergraduate education of its students: lots of big lecture classes and teaching assistants.
What they do is put a stamp on the students they get to choose from, with, of course, asterisks on their “student athletes” and DEI admission, especially.
That episode was hardly journalism. It certainly was an invasion of privacy and a violation of trust. That
AirBnB owner should have been sued by Belichick or his girlfriend for spying and blabbing to the public.
I’d guess that AirBnB will dump them, at least.
In the 60’s (yes, the 60’s, Pablo!), Bill Buckley said that he’d rather be governed by the first 200 names in the Boston phone book, than by the faculty at Harvard.
They’ve been militantly leftist for quite some time.
GMTA: from the article:
Note: There’s nothing new about the liberal leanings of the Harvard faculty. As William F. Buckley, the founder of modern conservatism, famously said some 60 years ago:
“I am obliged to confess I should sooner live in a society governed by the first two thousand names in the Boston telephone directory than in a society governed by the two thousand faculty members of Harvard University.”
I have a BS from MIT and a PhD from Harvard. So I was interested in the two Commencement ceremonies yesterday.
Yesterday’s Harvard commencement was a lovely event with no “incidents” at all.
However, the MIT commencement featured a horrible pro-Palestinian address by keffiyeh-wearing class president Indian American Megha Vemuri:

MIT president Kornbluth, who spoke right after Vemuri, said nothing about her vile speech!
Nevertheless, MIT barred Vemuri from further graduation events!
Good! I don’t know if Vemuri was awarded her degree, however.
80% of the faculty described themselves as “liberal” or “very liberal.
The things that keep MSNBC and CNN in business mass stupidity.
I investigated myself and found I did nothing wrong.
Have a nice day. :)
Thanks! I should’ve read the article in full. I’m glad somebody else remembered that quote.
I happen to be from Boston.
:-)
“There’s only one way to get through MIT: the hard way.” -Sally Kornbluth
