So stunning, so brave.
In what's being called a "contrast" to the two white men who have statues in Times Square, a new 12-foot statue of a fictionalized overweight black woman has been erected at Broadway and 46th Street.
Why?
The Times Square Arts association presents a big word salad on its official website for the bronze statue (it will stay standing until June 17) created by artist Thomas J Price, but then, buried deep in the word salad, we get an interesting nugget.
Email: joe.kinsey@outkick.com "Installed at ground level on a wide low base, the work invites engagement with the hundreds of thousands of people who traverse the plazas each day, the woman in Grounded in the Stars cuts a stark contrast to the pedestaled permanent monuments — both white, both men — which bookend Duffy Square, while embodying a quiet gravity and grandeur," the Times Square Arts group says on its site.
You guessed it. This is about race.
Who are the two white men that the Times Square Arts won't name? One of the white men is World War I hero Father Francis Duffy who became the most highly decorated cleric in the history of the U.S. Army for his efforts during combat on the Western Front in France. Duffy was honored with the Distinguished Service Cross for his service to the United States which included caring for wounded and dying men. The other white man is George C. Cohan who is regarded as a Broadway hero who was America's first show business superstar. NPR says Cohan should be remembered as the man who "created Broadway." In other words, without Cohan's efforts in the early 20th century, there's a chance there's no Times Square for the 12-foot overweight black woman to chill for the next couple of

So they erected a gigantic welfare momma? It IS symbolic of a big fat problem isn’t it?
Paging Laz. . . something needs “hitting.”
Or screeching, "WTF u b lookin' at muthafucka?"
BTW, you spelled "that's" wrong. In Ebonics, it b speld "das."
Yep, a lot of medical/public monetary resources are drained through early deaths/keeping people alive associated with “if it feels good do it” mentality of individuals not taking care of their bodies. It’s good business until the resources run out...we are almost there. Interesting times.
I think it is funny that someone thinks blacks are just fat, nasty, trash.
I wonder what the actual weight of this overweight black female statue. That weight would give the true meaning of an overweight black female. Perhaps one could de-stigmatize the portrayal of a black female by giving the statue a white face treatment with a sign hanging from her neck reading “850 LBS.” I can imagine the smoke coming out the New York lib’s ears upon seeing that.
Are those approving the statue’s erection saying black women are historically overweight???? Wouldn’t that be racist????
Well, I guess that puts my accomplishments of building nuclear weapon system to protect this counting it’s place.
How many black nuclear engineers have I met, none!
All power to the Pu$$y!
Fanni Willis is a goddess ! ( sarc.)
What idiocy.
Support the Revlooshun! ( sarc.)
But they had to do the Dem typical fat and ugly instead of celebrating accomplishment
Hahahahaha
“Doesn’t look over weight to me. Looks like a typical American black woman.”
An ode to Leticia James perhaps...
Racist stereotypes are back in vogue
EBT diet fangirl
Is that statue supposed to resemble Letitia James?
So we don’t have any overweight black women hero’s to make statues of, but we’ll just put one up anyway because to many hero statues are fit white men..
This is the insanity that is the left.
