Trump is going to own CBS before this is over

Some people just have to learn the hard way. Then there are people who just never learn.

On October 6, 2024, 60 MINUTES broadcast an interview with Kamala Harris. Harris's response to a question about Israel from Bill Whitaker raised eyebrows, particularly those of Donald Trump.  Trump demanded to see the unedited transcript and after a battle the transcript was released. It clearly showed that the broadcast interview had been edited in Harris's favor.

The lawsuit stems from an exchange Harris had with “60 Minutes” correspondent Bill Whitaker, who asked her why Israeli Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu wasn’t “listening” to the Biden administration.

Harris was widely mocked for the “word salad” answer that aired in a preview clip of the interview on “Face the Nation.”

However, when Whitaker asked the same question during the primetime special, Harris had a different, more concise response. Critics at the time accused CBS News of editing Harris’s “word salad” answer to shield the then-vice president from further backlash leading up to Election Day.

It made Harris less scatter-brained than she is.

Trump launched a $10 billion lawsuit against CBS and Paramount Global (which was later raised to $20 billion) for election interference. Recently this edited, biased piece has been nominated for a Grammy.

Scott Pelley is a jackass. Nearly eight years ago I said he was "The worst politically biased hack in the news today." A couple of months ago I said "CBS has been reduced to complete propagandism consequent to its losing battle against Trump."

Now Pelley has gone totally off the rails. On Sunday, 60 Minutes broadcast a segment called "The Rule of Law." It was described this way by CBS: "In recent weeks, President Trump has signed orders targeting several law firms. Some lawyers warn that the president's assault on the legal profession threatens the rule of law itself."

Scott Pelley nearly cried introducing the segment, saying "It was nearly impossible to get anyone on camera for this story... Marc Elias... is the only lawyer the President has named who was willing to appear on 60 Minutes." As for Elias, he portrayed himself as the victim

"Donald Trump hates me because I fight hard and I fight for fair and free elections."
There was something 60 Minutes left out of the segment. Grok:

Marc Elias, a prominent Democratic election lawyer, was a partner at Perkins Coie, a law firm representing the Democratic National Committee (DNC) and Hillary Clinton’s 2016 presidential campaign. Through Perkins Coie, Elias engaged Fusion GPS, a research firm, to conduct opposition research on Donald Trump. Fusion GPS, funded by Perkins Coie via Elias’s direction, hired Christopher Steele, a former British intelligence officer, to compile the "Steele dossier," a collection of unverified reports alleging ties between Trump and Russia. Payments for this work, totaling $1.02 million from Perkins Coie to Fusion GPS, were not initially disclosed as campaign expenditures, leading to scrutiny. In 2017, Elias denied knowing Steele’s identity or the dossier’s specifics until it was published by BuzzFeed. The dossier’s credibility has been widely questioned, and Elias’s role has drawn criticism for his involvement in its funding and dissemination. He left Perkins Coie in 2021 to start his own firm, Elias Law Group.

60 Minutes also omitted Elias's being sanctioned. Grok:

Marc Elias has been sanctioned for unethical conduct once, based on available information. In March 2021, the 5th U.S. Circuit Court of Appeals sanctioned Elias and other Perkins Coie lawyers for a "redundant and misleading" motion in a Texas voting case, citing a lack of candor for failing to disclose a previously denied motion. The sanctions were upheld in June 2021, and a reconsideration request was denied in December 2021.

Elias served as general counsel for John Kerry’s 2004 presidential campaign, Hillary Clinton’s 2016 campaign, and Joe Biden’s 2020 campaign.

The fact that Elias tried to undermine the 2016 election just might have something to do with any possible Trump animus. Bill O-Reilly had this to say about Elias:

Just watched another anti-Trump hit piece on 60 Minutes. Without debating the merits of President Trump using his power to punish law firms he doesn't like, I will report that CBS correspondent Scott Pelley glorified a lawyer named Marc Elias who worked for the Clinton campaign in 2016 and was up to his eyeballs in the phony Russian collusion story.  Somehow, Scott failed to mention that.  He also did not feature one pro-Trump lawyer but used three attorneys critical of the President. This is wrong and 60 Minutes has to know it.  Again, I am not litigating this.  Trump may be wrong.  But CBS News once again did not present the full story in their jihad against Donald Trump.  Shame on them.

Now Elias is whining that Trump is undermining the rule of law. How so?

President Trump deserves justice. Hopefully, he will actually “own” CBS. He could rename it NBS (No Bull Shit) and broadcast real news 24/7 into eternity.

It would be worth it to see EVERY employee of that perverted, no-integrity, no-honesty cesspool fired.

It would be a very interesting move, since the media feels POTUS Trump is “undermining” the law, for POTUS Trump to simply have Marc Elias arrested and held at Guantanamo Bay that mimics precisely the exact same way J6’rs were held until “trial”.

Give them something to scream about!!

When 60 Minutes said, “In recent weeks, President Trump has signed orders targeting several law firms”, are they talking about Trump revoking security clearances for those law firms? We don’t need tons of people with security clearances anyway, certainly not people who abuse it for political purposes.

“hired Christopher Steele, a former British intelligence officer, to compile the “Steele dossier,” a collection of unverified reports alleging ties between Trump and Russia.”

No, it was not a collection of unverified reports, a Russian “source” that mislead them, etc.
It was a deliberate lie, created on Steele’s laptop with Sergei Skripol contributing to give it Russian flavor. Robert Hannigan of GCHQ resigned when Trump was sworn in, and a year later Skripol and his daughter were sprayed with Fentanyl (not nerve gas) and it was right in he shadow of the Salisbury British chemical warfare center.

No, it was not a collection of unverified reports. It was a straight up CIA/GCHQ fraud. Steele never agreed to interview for Mueller.

This interview was a flagrant violation of the truth. The show should either fire Pelley or cancel 60 minutes forever, it was that bad.

And ask around the aviation industry. Ask around the tech industry. Think there is a “right” that you will win a contract or even be allowed to bid on government work.
If you have a demonstrated record of outright fraud, adjudicated or not... you will not be let in. And you won’t get a security clearance. Very small problems will lose that clearance and that Government contract.

So is there some special status for a law firm that entitles them to security clearances and/or government business?

Welcome to the party lawyers. You were idiots, and now you don’t get the government work until Trump is gone at least.

yes on the security clearances

an eo also said if you use these law firms

no govt contracts for you

which would have crushed the law firms

i wish Trump would have stuck to his guns

but he compromised

if they do pro-bono work on his behalf

then he would back off

It’s a wonder CBS hasn’t has it’s license pulled for all the misleading stories they produce so much for being call news.

FCC taping fingers on desk.

If I'm Trump, I'll agree to settle if they'll cancel 60 minutes forever or donate 500 million dollars to the presidential library + public apology.

I think there’ll be an 8 figure settlement to make it go away. But, as I often bewail here, the number put onto a lawsuit is a number the lawyer snatches right out of the air. You can’t win a lawsuit unless you can prove calculable damages and I can’t imagine what damages Trump suffered. It’ll settle for political reasons, and the
Money and the humiliation of CBS is good enough

the president’s assault on the legal profession threatens the rule of law itself
—-

How many of Trump’s attorneys were prosecuted? Cohen, Giuliani, Sydney Powell and several others…

PLUS as Grok said these law firms did not seemingly protect the rule of law but acted to subvert it and acted as intermediaries to help a candidate to break campaign laws.

The only thing that matters is what will happen to CBS. It starts with the worst thing that COULD happen.

Trump own it? Tha’d be nice.

Yes, true I was a little off topic. CBS sucks. But they have to know at least what we know. They let Elias make that statement without challenging it, without “fact checking”, without an editorial note. It’s not quite the same as tampering with a video to give it the best (or worst) possible spin to boost (or damage) a candidate, but it’s in the same ballpark. The MSM are just propaganda and outrage machines.

“Trump is going to own CBS before this is over”

or President Trump could settle by owning the “60 minutes” show and time slot with total editorial control ... at that point, he fires all the producers and talking heads and hires a new bunch that focuses on countering the lies of all the OTHER media like CNN and NYT ...

I’m lovin’ it.

60 Minutes is the Jurassic Park of so-called “broadcast news”.

Old geezers like Pelley and Stahl got nothing to lose.

They’re going down like most Never-Trumpers go down, the hard way.

They’re making Trump’s decision to go all the way an easy one.

Folk atop CBS likely want a settlement, but the reality in show biz is the “talent” call the shots.

And broadcast news is all show biz and has NOTHING to do with telling truths.

Companies that use fake cream use the word Kreme.
Companies that use fake cheese use the word Cheez.
CBS should be using the word Nooz.
