Russians Asking for a New Bomber Base (For a Friend)
Gateway Pundit ^ | 04/17/2025 | John Mills

Out of the blue (seemingly), the Russians have approached Indonesia and asked for, of all things, basing rights for their strategic bombers.

Jane’s, a respected source of strategic intelligence, said, “Jakarta has received an official request from Moscow, seeking permission for Russian Aerospace Forces (VKS) aircraft to be based at a facility in Indonesia’s easternmost province… In the request, Russia seeks to base several long-range aircraft at the Manuhua Air Force Base, which shares a runway with the Frans Kaisiepo Airport, documents that have been presented to Jane’s reveal.”

The article implied that in recent years, Russian TU-95 Bombers have landed at the base before. The only instance of a strategic bomber visit by Russia that could be readily found was a 2017 short visit for a “Navigation Exercise”.

Russia has only a small number of strategic bombers, approximately 15 TU-160 “Blackjack” and 40 or so TU-95 “Bears” with another 60 or so TU-22M “Backfires” which are more like medium-range bombers.

At any one time, only 50 or so of these bombers are mission-capable. These bombers were located primarily at Engels (close to Ukraine, most if not all aircraft have been moved because of Ukrainian drone strikes), Dyagilevo (near Moscow), and Ukrainka (the far east toward the Pacific). The real issue with this Indonesian ask by Russia, is that it was very likely for a friend, China.

I think the easternmost province must be the western part of New Guinea, which never got a chance at self-determination. They went from Dutch colonial control to Indonesian colonial control.

Let them build it and then taker it from them.

They still owe us for a naval base.

They need a place to park them until Ukraine stops trying to blow them up.

Actually, Russia is doing quite well with their aviation these days. Ukraine is 60 days from seeing the largest defeat of the war. Russia is in the process of switching from Shovels (and washing maching chips) to MOPS.

Everyone in the west is afraid that all those assets the EU central banks leveraged their balance sheets with in Ukraine will be under Russian management. Britian and France stand to lose everythinig along the Black Sea and Odessa and they are at this moment going insaine and are going to risk WWIII with boots on the ground openly. Even Denmark is in for blood. The Russians had a nice reply to them about putting their military forces in Ukraine or the Odessa to the tune of how many coffins do want returning home; but the best was for the German Mertz about Nazis. Classic Diplomacy.

Seriously though, this may fruits of Brics. The US simply cannot undo the damage of Sanctions under Swift by Obama/Biden (even Trump) and frozen assets. The world saw the unjust seizure of funds and they spoke with their Trade Feet. They as in about 110 of the 270 so nations are applying to Brics.

Much of Trump’s 70 nation engagement is not just about China but it is an end around on attacking Brics. Of course it is not in the News. Brics already has 2/3s of the world population in the bloc. Nothing actually binds Brics members with the exception of Sanctions being a No No.

We will have to see if Trump’s efforts to break Brics using China as the club or bat works. My money is on the Brics nations to look past 10% deals with the US and stay in the trade block that is more financially aligned with their poor natoinal status. The Brics countries already have Fair Trade between themselves. They barter and use crypto or any currency on the shelf without USD.

Trump is actully after Brics, not China. Don’t be fooled. The China Tariffs are simply about stopping Brics before the US/West is the 45 countries “actually” issolated by sanctions and blockades.

Keep you eye on the ball - Brics is the Evil Fruits of Biden’s Blind Ambition.

The US is going to BTC, China to Gold. We will win that one, but the trade war is ove Brics.

There is nothing Trump can do to force countries out of Brics or from joining. Had Trump been president two years ago Brics would still be 11 members strong. Instead, it is on track to gobble up half of the world’s nations.
