there is nothing better that putting down the windshield on a willys cj 2a jeep in the mountains. Hearing the flat head and gears whir....................

At least equal... The same in a 404 Unimog.

Hearing the engine and transmission scream.

Requires ear protection.

It’s not due to tariffs. They have the largest inventory of unsold vehicles.

So does Ford and many others. People are trying to recover from Bidenflation and the Biden poor economy.

Just added a Wrangler to my stable, I love it. You have to remember these vehicles are designed to do what basically no other vehicle can do, so this is why some get loose and get the DW.

Talk about this alot in Texas. White boys drive F150s. Coloreds drive Chevys and GMCs. White boys drive Dodge w Cummins, and serial killers drive gas Dodges.

It is the Lame Stream Media’s attempt at making it sound like Americans were laid off.

Pure propaganda.

I spent a little time in the southwest. Ford, Chevy, Dodge, Toyota pickup trucks, about evenly used by the population.

In the mid-West Ford, Chevy were the leaders, with Dodge, Toyota not far behind.

Yep, you nailed it. But the MSM refuses to portray it that way because that would support President Trump and the USA. They must HATE Trump at all costs.

“It’s not due to tariffs. They have the largest inventory of unsold vehicles.”

NOT QUITE!

How many of those vehicles are they going to sell NOW?

It was the tariffs, says the camel with the broken back.

The auto industry is getting hit hard. IMO we are in a depression. Nobody is buying anything. Vehicles across the spectrum are wildly overpriced and everyone has too much inventory. Few people will be incentivized to buy products from companies like Nissan and Stellantis who seem to be teetering on the edge of going under. (I remember driving past Studebaker dealerships after the company went under. Lots and showrooms full of shiny new cars and my mother commenting that few people would buy them at any price.) For this combination of reasons, I’d be surprised if 2025 doesn’t set a new low sales record across the board. The deep, deep discounts that will happen may put GM and Ford into bankruptcy.

"A good number of countries around the world, with politicians that have any common sense,"

Surely you jest. Maybe 10 countries have leaders with common sense. Only one G-7 member, the rest minor players constrained by EU membership from doing anything constructive.

We are all in the soup, my friend. The stock market crashed in late October, 1929. They passed Smoot-Hawley tariffs to protect American farmers and workers (does all this sound familiar?) 8 months later. The depression went on until war spending kicked in 10 years after that.

The US fought a trade war with Japan that contributed to the war in Manchuria and Pearl Harbor.

Yesterday the US increased tariffs on China to 50%. These countries have been engaging in a trade war for years.

There are 2 active wars going on now and another one brewing. Trade wars lead to real wars.

Buckle up.

Smoot Hawley is a myth and a lie. So stop it.

But the impact of trade was miniscule when compared to the size of the overall economic contraction. Government expenditures remained essentially constant, but private consumption and investment plummeted. Of the $131 billion in lost economic output over the five-year period, only about $0.7 billion seems attributable to trade. This is shown as the last entry in the last row of the table. In either absolute or relative terms, the trade portion of the economic contraction of the Great Depression appears to be of little import.
