Key Points

Stellantis is pausing production at two assembly plants in Canada and Mexico as the company attempts to navigate President Donald Trump’s new round of 25% automotive tariffs.

The actions will result in roughly 900 U.S.-represented employees at supporting plants getting temporarily laid off in addition to roughly 4,500 hourly workers at the Canadian plant.

"A lot of countries who are beating their chest over Trump’s Tariffs are in the process of FAFO. The FA’d with the US since the end of WW II, sending us everything and taking nothing in return."

It was policy for the US to subsidize the worlds economy in the aftermath of WW2. Rebuild and strengthen the western world against the threat of communism. Somewhere along the line the practice became SOP.

Without a doubt hands down THE most quirky vehicle I have ever owned.

Open the doors in the rain and due to the design more than likely water is gonna pour onto the floorboard.

A good number of countries around the world, with politicians that have any common sense, will come to Washington and agree to drop all their tariffs on US goods in exchange for the US dropping tariffs on their exports to the US.

Other countries with idiots in charge will beat their chests about standing up to the US and standby while their economies tank, enter depression and their populations get really mad.

Popular sedan models will have higher rates than cars that are not as desired in the current market. One reason for this is that the more popular sedans may have higher theft rates. Other factors that help determine the rate for sedans include safety ratings, repair costs, and theft rates.

found on the web. didn’t know that.

There’s a lot of this corporate half-speak going on. Boeing’s CEO claims they have already built 42 planes this year.

Truth is those planes were built last year, but waiting for engines. They slapped on the engines and boom, fully built this year.

But it makes Boeing look like it cleaned up its act. It hasn’t. They still haven’t found an engineer to run that place and it will likely end up meaning that commercial airline group will be spun off and sold to someone that can make something of it. Defense will remain Boeing, and currently bad at making stuff.

I really do not understand WHY people continue to buy crappy vehicles like Dodge, Jeep, Landrovers, even new Mercedes are now absolute pieces of crap.

The only Jeep I would ever buy would be a 1950s WILLY’s. When they were very simple. Not much different than than International Harvester tractor.

Jeeps do that because the drip rail stops before the windshield because Jeep windshields are designed to fold down.

The most reliable vehicle I have ever owned was a 2001 Dodge Dakota Quad Cab. Go figure.

:^) I had a loaner vehicle once, back when my old car needed some extra time apart, and they’d sold off all of their loaners off for top dollar during the Great Covid Pandemic Worldwide Crisis. They gave me keys to a club cab Silverado that was (I think) the end-of-model-year from lot inventory.

I actually enjoyed driving that, visibility is awesome. Being not a munchkin, I enjoyed having the step-up and no-duck to get into the thing. Fuel economy is something I’ll generally joke about, but it was about what my poor old geriatric car was getting by then.

The last night I drove it to work, I made the mistake of looking at the sticker as I put my work stuff in the back seat. As pickups go, this one was not loaded or anything, pretty much just the club cab away from being a base model? $48K.

The real irony here is that Ram had a Classic version which was not equipped with leather seats had cheaper interior and trim. That was a $35k truck but they cancelled that to make more profitable high trim level trucks.

They quit making products that sell the best.

“ and the lib media refuses to say.....tariffs are nothing more than a tool to gain leverage and level the unbelievably lopsided trade practices with the US always on the short end.”

If tariffs had been Sniffy’s idea it would be lauded by the same media as the greatest and most perfect solution ever.

My Mustang convertible top has a drip rail formed by sewing a piece of tubing along the outside edges.

But it stops about 5 inches before the windshield, so that if you roll down the window just a little bit water pours in on you. Even if it just dew from the night................
