House Bill 1551: Attorneys Gain, Floridians Lose
Florida Jolt ^ | 3/28/2025 | Tracy Caruso

House Bill 1551 is profoundly flawed legislation that undermines recent insurance reforms, prioritizes special interests, and threatens to drive up costs for Florida homeowners. It is the latest power grab from the Florida legislature during a session that is turning out to be the most contentious, self-serving political time in over a decade.

The “Republican” RINO caucus is working nonstop on legislation that does nothing for Floridians but does everything to line the pockets of a small group of legislators who have further political aspirations and their trial attorney friends. Don’t fall for it.

The Florida House is full of Rinos. Thank God we have Gov. DeSantis standing in the breech.

We need a wall of separation between insurance and state.

One needs only watch some local TV to see all the lawyer ads.
Those lawyer ads and all TV revenue for them comes FROM YOUR and MY auto premiums.
So much TV ads are conflict of interest. None of their news departments will ever do stories about lawyers or such.

I was at a dinner with a neighbor’s relatives.

One said that a major insurer refused to pay on a claim.

Another relative in the roofing business called the company ***snake.

They did negative news about Alina Habba all the time, and others.

People forget that Rudi Giuliani was a lawyer. Who they also did negative news about simultaneously while having ads from slip and fall lawyers.

Journalists are ideologically driven, not monetarily driven. The lawyers you want to see face the truth are democrats, the journalists are democrats so they will never get negative news even if the slip and fall ads went bye bye.

Democrats reporting on republicans is indeed a conflict of interest, to be sure. But the only way to fix it is to create/introduce more anti-progressive news outlets. - something our guys have made clear for decades they expressly do not want to do.

I read a description of the proposed bill, and I’m not so sure I would reflexively oppose it.

Basically, it looks like it simply allows insured plaintiffs to recover legal fees if they successfully sue their insurance company over a denial of a claim. I’m sure there are flaws and loopholes in the bill that may be problematic, but on its face is this a bad thing?

He’s just one of many on the self-service ladder in Florida.

Cities/towns are begging for help because they’ve been corrupted & residents are having a rough time.

How does a water bill of $250 a month for a family of 2-4 grab you? Yeah, a lot of folks living her don’t much care for it either, but here we are.

Not picking on you. Don’t know the details.

Drill a well! Though as my municipality expands, I think I may have to drill a sacrificial well. Cap it so the county feels warm and fuzzy...

At some point my FL county wants to expand sewer service.
I’m 11 miles from the proposed treatment plant. Never mind that as an anal retired engineer I can document to the nearest 0.1 gallon my black water and grey water waste stream.

I’m on 10 acres and 700 feet from the river.
