Life under the segregationist Trump regime is horrible enough. But it threatens to get even worse!
Soon, large swaths of the population will be incapable of reading about just how horrible things are . . . because they will be incapable of reading at all!
That is, if you buy into MSNBC's doomsaying.
NAACP president Derrick Johnson was a guest on Sunday's edition of MSNBC's The Weekend, and much of the hand-wringing focused on the Trump administration's efforts to say sayonara to the Department of Education.
Attempting to broaden his scaremongering beyond African-Americans and Latinos, and induce whites to also dread the end of the DoE, Johnson said:
"In Alabama in 1965, when you went to the polls to vote, white folks would go vote and they voted on symbols, because the illiteracy rate of white Alabamians at the time was so high they could not read a ballot. If we continue down this road,it's not only going to have a disastrous impact on African Americans and Latinos, it's going to have a disastrous impact on working class whites."

Next thing you know he will be setting up a congressional caucus for blacks, sending blacks to separate graduations, designating black colleges and make blacks state their race on all government forms.
Ohhhhhh, never mind.
EC
Robert Byrd is smiling from down under.
So far today, I have learned that Donald Trump has proclaimed himself King and also re-instituted Jim Crow. Tomorrow, I suppose he’ll either bring back slavery or take away a woman’s right to vote.
I’ve seen videos of blue haired nosed-ring liberal females discussing what to pack in their bug-out bag in case the Trump KGB comes after them.
One even asked for recommendations of the best cat-carrier to buy in order to take her 9lb cat with her. Now I’m sorry, but if I’m bugging out with just what I can carry, the cat is on its own.
If it were up to the communist pigs at MSNBC we’d all be living under much worse than Jim Crowe law.

Garbage!
These vile pukes need to be chased out of the country...
I thought it was Democrats who were still pushing segregation, having blacks only areas of schools and blacks only scholarships, and blacks only activities etc.
Great Minds Think Alike
From the article:
The outrageous irony is that nowadays, the real segregationists aren’t the Jim Crow 2.0 crowd. They’re the people behind graduation ceremonies, university classes, college dorms, scholarship programs, government contracts, etc. that exclude people of pallor.
At my Cornell alma mater, there was even a rock climbing class that was initially labeled as exclusively for “people who identify as Black, Indigenous, Latinx, Asian, or other people of color.”
Guess Cornell didn’t want people of color to be caught between a rock and a white place.
I ...uh...yeah, but...:>)
“In Alabama in 1965, when you went to the polls to vote, white folks would go vote and they voted on symbols, because the illiteracy rate of white Alabamians at the time was so high they could not read a ballot.”
Wonder how those illiterate white folks managed to build the Mercury and Apollo programs and put the first men on the moon.
OTOH, it’s MSNBC so they are basically talking to themselves as they have no audience.
Old female friend of mine called out of the blue several years ago. She had married a European who had taken her to South Africa for his work. He was knocking her around and she said she was in fear for her life and could we get her a ticket home.’
A couple of us got together and got her a ticket Cape Town to Rome and home from there. The next day she contacted us and said she wouldn’t leave without her cat. After that she was on her own…
Totally! The Washington Generals of politics
Have these people seen Chicago Public Schools’ reading and math scores from the last 20 years? They already can’t read!
I have a 44 year-old friend who was originally born in Massachusetts and who had to teach himself, in his twenties, how to read. He can’t spell worth a damn, and there are many words he can’t pronounce, but he generally gets the gist. He has to use a lot of talk-to-text.
