Russian President Vladimir Putin on Thursday said Russia agrees in principle with the U.S.-led ceasefire plan backed by Ukraine earlier this week, but stopped short of signing up to any deal, arguing that it needed further negotiation and must lead to “enduring peace.”

“We agree with the proposal for a ceasefire, to cease hostilities, but we proceed from the fact that this ceasefire should lead to an enduring peace and should remove the root causes of this crisis,” Putin said, according to a live translation of a press briefing.

“We are in favor of it but there are nuances,” he said when asked about the 30-day ceasefire deal brokered by the White House. Kyiv backed the plan on Tuesday, contingent on Moscow’s agreement.

Putin also thanked U.S. President Donald Trump for giving “so much attention” to the prospect of a Russia-Ukraine deal.

This breaking news story will be updated shortly.

Maybe a few MOABs would change Putin’s mind. Preferably dropped on his head.

Perhaps an exaggeration, but the Russian comment basically is, we’re doing well on the battlefield right now, so why agree to a ceasefire?

Someone like Putin only responds to severe threat, like battlefield disasters or risk to his own safety. Just like any bully or sociopath.

Maybe they will agree, maybe economic pressure will be enough, but Putin is a very bad character.

These foreign despots are great at turning our social issues against us. “root causes” as a leftist political concept allows for never-ending grievance claims. So of course Putin is going to use it in any attempt to divide the American population and sew confusion.

We agree with the proposal for a ceasefire, to cease hostilities, but we proceed from the fact that this ceasefire should lead to an enduring peace and should remove the root causes of this crisis.

The root cause of this crisis is Russia's desire to subjugate Ukraine.

The real root cause is that marxism was found bankrupt in the East, but infected the West and transmogrified into woke Neo-marxism.

It still has all of marxism’s religious-like beliefs, teleology, forced collectivism, global ambitions - and capacity for death and destruction - but has changed its face from struggling for “workers rights” to race, sex, gender, and anti-western cultural struggle.

The root cause of this crisis is Russia's desire to subjugate Ukraine.

YES - and we pray they defeat the forces of WEF-London-Brussels globohomo, who have taken over poor Ukraine into their neo-marxist forward operating base.

So what. They are all bad characters. If Putin was a nice guy he wouldn’t be where he is. Same with Zelinskyy. You don’t get to peace by only talking to nice people.

Sounds like he is positioning himself right now to have territorial advantage during peace talks. He is a few days away from bagging all of Kursk and may be playing for time until that is done before he agrees to a cease fire.

“Perhaps an exaggeration”

But a tactical nuclear response could follow.

You support Russia subjugating the Ukrainian people? Are they a inferior race that does not have the right to the same liberty that you enjoy?

Russia procrastinating because Putin doesnt want a cease fire. He will only be satisfied with a victory that negates his being humiliated by his military’s failures of the last 3 years.

HA HA. Your silly slogans and spin do not work on me.

I support the right of Russia to destroy the globalist schemes of Brussels-WEF globohomo on their border, and their puppets in Kiev. Just as Trump is attempting in North America

The Ukraine people will be far better off when these neo-marxist globalists are removed from power.

“Someone like Putin only responds to severe threat”

Putin responded, did the ceasefire contain any threats?
