Ever since President Trump and Vice President Vance called out Volodymyr Zelenskyy in the Oval Office, European government leaders have been throwing up their virtue signals about how they all 'stand with Ukraine.'
.
.
One particular account who wanted to flex his muscles was Austrian economist Gunther Fehlinger-Jahn, who made the bold claim today that Europe should 'confiscate' all U.S. military assets on the continent.

“Austrian economist Gunther Fehlinger-Jahn, who made the bold claim today that Europe should ‘confiscate’ all U.S. military assets on the continent.”
It worked in Afghanistan. Not a confiscation, but maybe he’s hoping we’ll just leave it.
All for that.
The euro-weenies need to grow up.
I don't care who you are Gunther Fehlinger-Jahn, that's funny right there.
I suddenly had a vision of Trump and Putin standing over a big map of Europe with markers and saying, "Okay, so next... who gets France? You want it?"
Austria isn’t even in NATO.
We should and let them deal with it.
They’ve had years....even decades to prepare for that. It’s well past time they took responsibility for their own defense.
BTTT
“The Europeans really are powerless - because they’re toothless and have failed to provide for their own defense for decades and decades...”
Our northern neighbor too. Canada couldn’t defend Prince Edward Island.
I think a few generals, on the US bases, are saying “make our day - we not some practice”.
We should reduce our footprint in England and Germany. I believe the only base left in England is Mindehall AFB, but that may have changed since I was there. We lease most facilities from the RAF. Many of those facilities could be shut down with the modern intel systems. We should seriously look to relocate some assets. Do we need B-52s at Mindenhall? Are they even still there? If not, close it, if they are relocate them. It is past time Europe started defending itself. We no longer have shared values with the majority of the governments.
Change is inevitable. While I do not advocate returning to pre-WWI isolationism, I think we need to pull back and look at protecting our country, cities, and borders.
Afghanistan was basically a surrender.
They graciously allowed our disarmed soldiers to retreat to the US in exchange for about all our military weapons, vehicles, equipment and supplies.
Even in a “cut and run” one keeps one’s gear.
Guess they were kind to not require the clothing and have our people come back to the US in underwear
Yo the Biden Admin, war fighting experts!
(here come the clowns)
Why are we still flying B-52’s?
They were less than “modern” in the Vietnam war.
Vulnerable to any modern opposition.
Gunther, it wouldn’t be like the Anschluss, when Austria welcomed their Nazi friends with a big wet kiss.
It depends on when you were there. When I was there in 1988, the base was, and still is, RAF Mildenhall. The neighboring base is RAF Lakenheath. There are also other bases with other missions in the U.K.
Do we need B-52s at Mindenhall? Are they even still there? If not, close it, if they are relocate them.
Again, depending on when you were there. In '88, a variety of aircraft were based at RAF Mildenhall: EC-135 and RC-135, with C-130s rotating in from Dyess, Little Rock, and Pope. Before I left, and when I went back to RAF Lakenheath in 2008, RAF Mildenhall had KC-135 aircraft stationed there, which are responsible for air refueling for the European theater of operations. Other than air shows, there have never been B-52s stationed at RAF Mildenhall.
Well, Biden let the Taliban “confiscate” billions of dollars of US military equipment and weapons in Afghanistan so there’s that.
I agree. Let’s just save the Euroweenies the trouble of confiscation.
Austrian, eh? Those friggin Austrians have caused a lot of the historic problems in Europe and the world.
Oh the Irony.
Austria is not a member of NATO, because of a 1955 agreement to never join NATO as a condition for the Soviets leaving their half of the country.
