The Russian Federation forces have unstoppable momentum in the Donetsk region, with a string of victories and the noticeable weakening of the Ukrainian defenses.
Since they took the important rail and logistics hub of Kurakhovo, the Red Army has been on a roll. Just in January, they took Nadiya, Dachenskoye, Shevchenko (with lithium mine), Kalinovo, Peschanoye, Terny and Neskuchnoye, Ukrainka, Slavyanka, Petropavlovka and Vremevka, Vozdvizhenka, Novoyegorovka, Volkovo, Zapadnoye, Solyonoe, Timofeyevka and Zelenoye – most of these towns and villages in Donetsk, some in northern Kharkov.
The list below may seem just a bunch of strange Slavic names, but the Fact is: it’s a lot of settlements.
And less than a month after Kurakhovo, Moscow conquers the even larger stronghold of Velikaya Novosyolka, a fortress city almost on the border with Dnipropetrovsk, a region that, despite getting clobbered by Geran Drones and all kinds of missiles, so far haven’t been breached by Russian troops.
A distinct feature of the battle for Velikaya Novosyolka was how fast the Ukrainian defenses folded and retreated, with very little fighting, leaving the town comparatively less destroyed by the siege.
Long gone are the days of Bakhmut, where relentless Azov Nazis put up a fight to the end in the Azovstal factory grounds. Most of today’s troops conscripted by Kiev do not compare with the defenders from the beginning of the war.
Swiss paper Neue Zürcher Zeitung (via Slavyangrad)
“The military situation in eastern Ukraine has deteriorated sharply. Defense lines have collapsed in various parts of the front.
[…] The current scenario is reminiscent of the costly retreat battles near Avdeevka a year ago and near Ugledar in October. In both cases, the high command waited too long in a hopeless situation and gave the order to withdraw too late. Accordingly, there is great indignation among some Ukrainians that Kiev seems to have learned nothing.
After Velyka Novosyolka, the Russian Armed Forces will go north, where there are few topographic obstacles, to the border of the Dnipropetrovsk region.”
Kyiv in 3 days! Bring your parade uniforms!
Reading that list of place names can give you a headache.
The Ukraine is done. Stick a fork in it.
”what king on his way to war with another king will not first sit down and consider whether he can engage with ten thousand men the one coming against him with twenty thousand? And if he is unable, he will send a delegation while the other king is still far off, to ask for terms of peace.” (Luke 14:31-32)
At least they have plenty of vowels.

Kazan from Tatarstan conquers bombed out Ukrainian village 25 miles west of Donetsk? Winning!
The “Red Army” veterans—if any manage to survive—can look back with pride on this momentous achievement when they are eating straw like North Koreans after the Russian economy collapses. Hurrah. No price too high for the glory of Putin!
I read they cut off the supply lines for the Ukraine forces in Donetsk.
BTW, the Russian economy grew at 3.9% growth rate last year and Russia has record low unemployment.
How is the Russian economy being destroyed?
Those with Russian Derangement Syndrome are as stupid and hysterical as those with Trump Derangement Syndrome. Thanks for demonstrating that once again.
Amid talk of a ceasefire, Ukraine's front line is crumbling
An ominous defeat in the eastern town of Velyka Novosilka
The final battle for the small Donbas town of Velyka Novosilka dragged on for six days, though the outcome was obvious long before. Things became critical early in the new year, when Russian troops took over villages immediately to its north-east and west, pinching the Ukrainian defenders on three sides. By Thursday 23rd, the narrow corridor to what had become a nearly-isolated pocket had become impassable. The order to retreat came as soon as a mist descended. It was a nightmareish task that had to be completed on foot, under drone-filled skies, and across a river. The evidence of triumphant Russian propaganda channels suggests that many failed to make it.
Sucks to be the Ukraine which was stupid enough to believe that the neocons actually wanted to win the Forever War.
Ukraine had depended on a strategy of “defense in depth,” expecting a long hard slog in which they would continually bleed the Russian forces, while slowly grudgingly giving up ground, counting on the advantages of home turf, short supply lines, support from the West. All of that has happened; yet the Russians push relentlessly westward, apparently unmindful of losses, and suffering no shortage of supplies. Ukraine’s defenses have significantly weakened as the quality of their fighting force has declined, and there is no relief on the horizon. It is evident that this strategy has not worked, and Ukraine needs to make a hard decision about what to do next. If things continue the way they have, there is nothing good in Ukraine’s future.

How silly.
